"Hi Ameala," Faldrimme called out as she walked up to her friend's cothold.
"Faldrimme!" The young, dark haired woman called out, waving from her
front yard. "What brings you over this way?" Amelea shielded her eyes
from the sun. It was nice to be out in the sun for a change. **I've
been staying inside too much,** she thought.
"I just wanted to stop over and spend some time visiting with you. We
haven't talked in awhile," Faldrimme replied, walking up and giving
her friend a hug. "What are you up to?"
"I thought I would try my hand at some garden work. I've never been
very good at it, but I've got to start somewhere. What do you think?"
Amelea gestured around the space she'd been working in. She'd dug up a
small patch and was trying to clear the ground so she could plant. She
knew her new little garden wouldn't be anything like what some of the
other cotholders had, but she was proud to be doing the work.
"It looks great so far. I can help if you'd like," Faldrimme replied.
She herself loved being outdoors, whether it was with the animals or
digging in the dirt, the fresh air brought life to her in ways that
nothing else did. "I used to keep my own little garden near the main
Hold, but haven't had as much time or space to tend it." She didn't
add that it was harder for her to enjoy the space, being expected to
maintain certain higher standards at times because of her family
heritage.
"Maybe I could just help you grow yours. That would give us more time
to spend together, anyway!" Faldrimme declared excitedly. Ever since
Arippa had left she'd been lonelier than she'd ever been. That had led
her to reach out to new friends, and find new ways to enjoy their
company.
"That would be great," Amelea replied, breathing a sigh of relief as
she wiped her dirty, sweaty arm across her forehead leaving a streak
of dirt. "Garden work is harder than I thought it would be."
Faldrimme giggled as her friend smeared dirt all over her forehead.
"What?" Amelea asked, looking confused when Faldrimme burst into laughter.
"You look good wearing dirt! I'm sure Fitchen would be amused as
well!" Faldrimme laughed harder at that.
Amelea pretended to look upset, but soon dissolved into her own fit of
giggles. She gave Faldrimme a hug as both girls landed lying in the
dirt Amelea had already dug up.
After sitting up again, Amelea couldn't help but continue the laughing
fit at the way Faldrimme looked. "You look good wearing dirt, too, my
friend! We are quite a pair!"
