"Thank the Egg you're in here for once!" Shayla grinned once Gaiya had finally opened the door. "Faranth knows I don't have enough courage to go knocking on Ar'lis's door to find you!" Her brown eyes were wide and bright, her cheeks were flushed and she couldn't quit seem to keep the girlish smile from her lips as she looked at her friend.

"Yes, I suppose I have been spending a fair bit of time there," Gaiya said with a slight blush. "Come in. The children are taking their nap.
We have some time to catch up!"

"Good!" The greenrider came in, lowering her voice so the children wouldn't wake up. "I've missed you, you know."

"Have you now? And I'm sure you have lots to tell me about!" Gaiya had heard that her greenrider friend might have a bit of news for her, but she didn't want to let on and spoil Shayla's fun. Besides, she liked watching the girl blush.

As if on cue, Shayla blushed. "Yes, well. I do." They sat down. "And I bet you can guess what kind of news I have!" Not giving Gaiya a chance _to_ guess, Shayla leaned forward towards her a little and murmured, "I finally took your advice."

Gaiya grinned and leaned in turn. "Really? _And_?"

The color in Shayla's cheeks deepened another shade. "_And_ what? You know what I - what he and I - would do by following your advice!"

"You had sex with T'voal? That's wonderful!" her friend beemed. "How was it?"

Groaning, she hid her face in her hands briefly. "_Gaiya_!" But when she looked back at her friend again, she was beaming as much as the older girl was. "The sex?" She blushed harder. "Shards, it was great. T'voal really knows what he's...doing."

Her friend laughted. She doubted Shayla would know any different if he was one of the worst lovers in the Weyr, but the smile on her young friends case told her that wasn't the case. "I was sure you would feel that way, once you got over your silly inhibitions. But now what's the news? What's next for you two?"

"Well...he asked me to move in with him." She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her smile turning softer. "And I told him I would."

"Really?" Gaiya asked incredulously. "That was fast."

She blushed again. "I know. But we like each other... And he says that if we both end up driving each other crazy, I can just move out." She shrugged a shoulder, her smile turning into a grin. "But that's the _last_ thing I want to do right now."

"I'm sure it is." After all, Gaiya could remember her first serious relationship. She had thought they would be Weyrmates, have lots of children, grow old together... Too bad K'mai didn't feel the same way...

Shayla smile fell a little, noticing the slight change in tone. "You okay?"

"Of course I am! I'm happy for you, Shayla." She gave the greenrider a genuine smile. "You guys are going to be just fine together."

Shayla smiled back. "And what about you, Gaiya? Apparently you and Ar'lis are doing all right."

"Oh, yes, we're doing fine!" Gaiya answered quickly. "Lots of good sex."

Both brows rose. "Well that's...good." She flushed. "But is that all that's going on? Are there any moonlit walks? Candlelit dinners? Does he take you anywhere?"

"Oh, of course there are!" Or were, at least. Before that sharding flight. And maybe there would be again soon. Ar'lis just needed time...

"You know... I've heard what they're saying, Gaiya." Shayla's expression turned more serious.

"Not so serious really," Gaiya laughed. "He's fine now! Truly, Shayla.
Nothing to worry about. We haven't been out much, its true... But we're just making up for lost time." She winked conspiratorially. "I know you know what I mean."

The younger girl blushed. "Yeah, I do!"

Gaiya took her friends hand and squeezed it gently. She only wished she could tell Shayla that it all ends happily ever after...
