Description: Yanley tries to cover the real reason of her sickness from
Chupsin.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 12, day 17 of Turn 6
Yanley had managed to keep her morning sickness under control and hide all
the other signs of pregnancy. It was still on such early stage that there
weren't any outward signs. However, when the child-patient suddenly
vomited on her, she lost it. The smell was too much for her. Quickly
excusing that she needed things to clean it up, she rushed into the
cleaning closet. She managed get a bucket before she fell to her knees and
her noon meal came back up.
Chupsin had been getting medicine for the young boy when he saw the mess
and Yanley hurrying quickly away from it. Thinking she was just cleaning
up, he didn't think much of it, but moved forward instead to check on the
child as he waited for her to reappear. "Shhh it's okay. Drink some of this
to help the nausea."
Yanley rinsed the bucket, got cleaning equipment, but when she thought
about going back there and cleaning that vomit, she ended up retching again.
Once the child calmed down, Chupsin looked up. **Where was Yanley? Was she
having difficulty?** Leaving the boy with a capable apprentice, he
disappeared to find her. Hearing a noise, he walked slowly and almost
walked into her vomiting. "Whoa, Lady-hold on there." Moving aside, he
grabbed the bucket and held it in front of her.
"Thank you, Chupsin," Yanley said with weak voice when she could talk
again. She lifted her pale face to him. "I think I have to take the rest of
the day off," she said.
"Aye but before you do, we need to find out what's happening and get you
some medicine." When she was done, he put the bucket aside and placed a
towel into her hand. "Did you eat anything strange?"
"No, I ate same as everyone. I might caught something from the patients,"
Yanley replied. She didn't feel comfortable lying to him. She liked and
respect Chupsin. But she couldn't let him found out the real reason for her
sickness, not yet. Inevitably, he would find it out, but she wanted to
postpone it as long as possible.
"Well here's hoping it's the day long stomach bug." Moving around, he put a
hand to her forehead and didn't feel any fever. She was pale but otherwise
seemed to be fine. Grabbing a small bottle with a stopper, he handed it to
her. "Put enough of this so that it covers your fingertip then lick it.
That'll be enough for four candlemarks. Repeat as needed, but it should
settle your stomach. Take a warm bath, lie down, and stay in the dark for a
bit. Don't eat anything heavy for awhile."
"Yes, sir," Yanley managed grateful, wan smile. What she really needed was
dry crackers. She had box of those on her night stand. They helped her up
in a morning without feeling ill.
"And let me know if it gets worse or anything-especially if you can't make
it in tomorrow." He'd had to shift around some things, but it was what it
was. Better for her to rest and heal than to make it worse.
"Thank you, Chupsin. I'm sure bit of rest will help," Yanley said and got
up. She suddenly felt a light-headed and swayed on her feet.
Putting his arms out, he caught her. "Mlady I am going to insist that you
sit now." Steering her to a stool, he found some juice for her to drink. If
she had eaten it was probably not her blood, but better to be safe than
sorry. "Sip very slowly."
Yanley didn't trust her voice, so she just nodded and accepted the juice.
Giving her some time, he watched her carefully for any signs of anything.
And then he moved behind her to catch her in case anything else happened
and in case she vomited again he wouldn't be in the way. She didn't seem
dizzy, just nauseated and it was a strong reaction. "Have you been feeling
this all day or is this the first?"
"I can't even remember when I last threw up," Yanley replied. That was
truth, but not all of it. She couldn't just say she had been feeling
morning sickness past sevendays and that something just had set it off.
"Hm well probably a bug then. Stay here for a bit and sip then when you
feel better, we'll see about getting you to your quarters." Hopefully by
now an apprentice had handled the mess out in the infirmary. Now, they'd
have to clean this up as well. Such was the life of a healer.
