"Sister," Royan said as he touched her shoulder before coming around
the chair to take a seat at the table. "How fare you this fine
morning?"
"I'm doing fine, Royan. Who about you and your family?" Yanley replied
and gave her brother a warm smile. They hadn't seen much of each other
lately, both of them busy with their own lifes.
"All is well," Royan replied, "Though we miss Arippa, I am happy she
is making her own way in life. Faldrimme, though, I'm not so sure
about. That girl seems inclined to stick around with no intention of
marriage or future on her mind. The young'uns are well. Thank goodness
Pyunn keeps them under a tight watch." He chuckled slightly at that
thought. Both Darfel and Lysun were a bit of a handful.
"You've been busy, Yanley. I've hardly seen you at all of late. I know
Benani's babes must enjoy your attentions."
"Yes, she needs lot of help with the twins. Were yours that
demanding?" Yanley asked. She had lived elswhere when the girls were
babies. "And I'm sure Faldrimme will come around. I think she misses
her sister more than she lets on."
Royan shrugged a bit, "To be honest, Jaryl handled them most of the
time when there were wee babes. I was busy working most days and only
enjoyed more of the freedom to play with them in the evenings. I do
remember it feeling that there weren't always enough hands to keep all
the children together, but thankfully the older ones helped out quite
a bit." Royan realized he hadn't paid the new twins a visit of late
and made a mental note to go and spend some time with his new nephews.
"So, what else have you been doing with yourself?," he asked her.
"Oh, bit of this and bit of that, traveling, catching up on old
friends," Yanley replied. There was a glow to her face and she was
obviously much happier than when she first arrived.
"I'd heard some talk you'd been out and about more of late. So where
have you been traveling to, sister?" Royan asked.
"Oh, nowhere special, just enjoying the freedom I now have," Yanley
replied. "I noticed there is new mare in the stable. She looks so much
like Snowlight, the mare I used to ride long ago. Does she happen to
be Snowlight's descendant?" The question was evasive tactics if any,
to make Royan talk about something else. But love for runners were
something that they both shared.
"Actually she is, Yanley." Royan replied, eager and excited to talk
about the animal. "She's a beautiful mare as well and very well
behaved. You should come out in the morning and give her a go. She
hasn't really _taken_ to anyone yet, but you do have a way with
animals. I'm sure she would enjoy your company."
"I'm sure I will. I missed Snowlight, I couldn't take her with me when
I married," Yanley replied, expression souring a little when she
remembered her marriage to Golansin.
"Stop by in the morning if you can. I'll make sure Snowfall, that's
her name, is ready for you then." Royan would enjoy seeing his sister
atop the mare again. It would remind him of the days gone by when he
had seen her as they grew up.
"Well, that's an offer I can't refuse," Yanley laughed.
"Well, I guess unless there's any other news, I best be heading home
to Pyunn before she begins to wonder where I am," he chuckled. Pyunn
knew he was often out and about and never truly wondered about his
whereabouts, but it would be nice to spend some time with the family
this evening as he'd been busy for the past few nights.
"And I have two hungry flits to feed," Yanley replied and gave him a
sisterly peck on cheek. Not to mention a hungry little secret inside her.
