Aileyan just stormed into her weyr and throw herself down to her bed,
face down.
}: What's wrong? :{ alarmed Kjarliheth asked. Even Timor appeared,
trying to comfort his human. He landed on her pillow, rubbed his head
against her cheek and crooned.
** He's a jerk, a blabbering idiot...**
The green sighed. }: What did yours do now? :{ she asked Kalamath.
}:Mine was loving her too much. That's all I can figure out.:{ the
bronze replied with an apologetic tone.
"Aileyan? Sweetheart?" U'kaiah called gently as he walked into her
Weyr. "Please let me explain..."
"I'm not talking to you!" Aileyan declared somewhat childishly, her
voice muffled by the pillow.
Kjarliheth tried to get some sense of her feelings, but she didn't
really understand humiliation since she's never been humble.
"Come on, Aileyan, what was I supposed to do? The wherry's ass
insulted you! Was I just supposed to let him?" Didn't she understand
he only told him to shut him up?
"Did you have to tell him just _that_?" Aileyan asked, despite her
earlier threath not to talk to him.
"I wasn't saying anything _bad_ about you," U'kaiah protested, sitting
on the edge of the bed. "He said that you were inexperienced and not
creative, so I had to give him _some_ proof that he was talking out of
his ass. I wasn't just going to let him talk bad about you to my
face."
"Oh, I'm supposed to feel complimented?" her voice was dripping with
sarcasm.
"No..." She wasn't supposed to _hear_ their conversation... "But I
didn't think it was so bad. So I told him you're good in bed. What's
the problem with that? I would be more than happy if you went around
telling people _I_ was good in bed."
She turned to look at him with incredulous expression on her face.
"Well, _you_ would, but I..." she blushed. "I thought you knew me
better than that."
He did know her better than that, and that was why he could not look
her in the eye now. Of course she would have hated having her private
actions declared to the whole Weyr. She had not been raised to be so
open. And wasn't that one of the things he found so appealing about
her? That she wasn't so free with her actions, or her feelings? The
fact that she had chose him to share them with had always made him feel
special. He should have known better. He certainly should have handle
things better.
"I didn't mean to hurt you," he said rather meekly, accepting the blame
without saying as much yet.
"Well, you did," she said. Although she was still seething, she was
starting to calm down. "I like to keep private things private and not
to brag about them in front of the whole Weyr."
"I know," he said, nodding his head in understanding. "I was a
wherry's ass, too. I won't ever do it again. I promise."
"You better keep it," she said omniously, wondering if she really could
trust it.
U'kaiah could hear the wariness in her voice. He lifted his head to
look her straight in the eye so she could know he meant what he said.
"Aileyan, I love you. When you hurt, I hurt too. Come fog, Fall or
fire, I will keep my promises to you."
"Oh," she made breathless little sound. She got up to face him better.
"I think I love you too," she said, "that's why I was so embarrassed."
She wasn't overly sure about her emotions, for she never really been in
love before. There had been Ednan, but he was a childhood crush.
He would feel elated that she returned his feelings, if it didn't make
him feel even lower than a tunnelsnake. Wrapping his fingers around
her neck, he gently pulled her closer so he could kiss her softly and
whisper, "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I will do better next time."
"You're forgiven, this time," she just couldn't let him get away
without even a little warning.
