Description: Blayre and S'yei have dinner, but not without being watched
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 4 of Turn 6

As they entered the dining hall, Blayre asked, "So, where should
we sit tonight? There seems to be a few tables left empty." He looked
up to S'yei, his arm around the bluerider's waist. Blayre had become
much more comfortable with their new relationship in the past few
sevendays. He had even been a frequent night visitor to S'yei's weyr.
He was still a bit shy about admitting his accepting invitations but, a few
candlemarks after dark fell he would find himself bashfully knocking
on the bluerider's door.

S'yei gave Blayre's shoulders a squeeze, effectively pressing the
vintner closer to him, "How about that one near the wall? I'll go grab
us some plates and food if you'll go get our seats." The bluerider
bargained, pressing a kiss to Blayre's hair before moving away towards
the service table.

Blayre watched as the bluerider made his way through the crowd before he moved
to sit at the table S'yei had indicated. He made himself comfortable at the table
and took a seat with his back to the wall facing the rest of the room. While he
waited, the Vintner scanned the faces in the room. He smiled and waved at a few
folks he knew.

That's when he noticed another man staring him down. It was obvious that the man
staring liked what he saw, he even went so far as to give Blayre a wink. Blayre
quickly averted his eyes and looked in the other direction, desperate for S'yei
to return.

S'yei frowned at the back of the behemoth of a man in front of him.
Shards but was he going to take _all_ of the food? Peering around the
brownrider's shoulder, he caught a glimpse of the man's plate of food
and rolled his eyes. These big, beefy guys were all alike. Just
because they had bulging muscles they assumed that they could just eat
their dragon's weight in food when it came dinner time.

Slipping around the man, S'yei tried to tap down on his irritation as
he began making a plate for himself and Blayre as well. Once that was
finished he hooked a pitcher of klah and some empty cups and retreated
to the table by the wall where the vintnercrafter was waiting.

"Sorry for the delay, the giant up there," he jerked his head in the
direction of the man who was _still_ at the service table, "was taking
the entire table."

"Mmmhmm," Blayre murmured as he did his best to stay hidden behind the
bluerider's slender form. It wasn't terribly difficult since S'yei was
so tall. "I can already tell it's going to be an interesting night.
You were away for a second and already the fish are circling." He jerked his head in
the direction of the flirtatious stranger who was now only taking glimpses at Blayre doing
his best to make eye contact again. "I swear, it's like I'm irresistible to men now that
you've come along."

S'yei didn't even bother looking up to see who it was that had been
eyeballing _his_ vintner. Instead he sat down, a smile on his face,
"It's nothing that I did," he assured Blayre, "it's just that _now_
they all realize that you're open to being with men. Before they
probably just assumed that you preferred women." The bluerider was a
much more relaxed, happier man now that things between him and Blayre
had been sorted out. Because of Blayre's inexperience with men,
starting the physical side of their relationship had been hard.

Blayre supposed that made sense. He had, of course, never put it out there
that he was attracted to men. "Will they ever stop? I mean, you're right here
with me in front of them and they're still looking. Seems like they're wasting
their time to me."

"Do you want me to go beat him up?" S'yei teased, although he was very
pleased to hear that anyone who tried would be wasting their time with
Blayre. They hadn't talked specifically about being exclusive, but
S'yei didn't want to think about anyone else being with Blayre.
Despite never wanting to be in a permanent relationship previously,
S'yei's interest in other men had waned greatly since meeting the vintner.

Blayre laughed and smiled at the joke only seriously considering it for a
moment. "No, I don't think that's necessary. Maybe if I just ignore him and
just watch you, he'll get the hint and bugger off."

"Good, because if that doesn't work I'll have to make some outlandish
public display of affection and then you'll be all embarrassed, and
we'll get looks from everyone, you know...." S'yei winked, but waved
his fork in warning as he spoke.

"And I have no doubt that you would love every moment of such a display,"
He patted his bluerider's hand and took a bit of dinner with the other.
After swallowing he asked, "Does this sort of thing still happen to you?
It can't just be me. You're a handsome, strapping dragonrider, how could
it not. I'm not jealous really, I take it as a mark of pride."

S'yei shook his head, "Sometimes I catch a wondering eye... okay,
several wandering eyes, but you're getting so much attention right now
because you're something of an enigma. Other men _expect_ me to be
interested because I ride a blue dragon, you were just a quiet, shy
little vintner."

"Sir, I have never been shy," Blayre informed the bluerider. "And I'm not
all that quiet but I don't have to tell you that." He winked at his partner
and then eyed his plate. "Perhaps we should finish up? It's starting to feel
a bit crowded in here."

S'yei smiled, one that was for Blayre alone, "I agree. I'd much rather have you
alone anyway." He winked as he pushed his plate away and stood, extending one hand
to the vintner.

Taking the bluerider's hand, Blayre stood. He made sure that winking stranger saw him
firmly wrap his arm around S'yei's waist as they strood by on their way out.
