Date Posted: 5th June 2012

Characters: U'kaiah, Aileyan
Description: What/timeline: U'kaiah has arranged something for Aileyan.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr, Vintner Hall
Date: month 8, day 3 of Turn 6

U'kaiah pulled off his riding helmet and was about to head inside the
Weyr to his office and a mound of hidework when he caught a flash of
gold out of the corner of his eye. Lifting a hand to shield his eyes
from the sun, he looked up as the Queen's Wing flew over head. They
were drilling late today. A smile touched his lips as he thought of
Aileyan and wondered where she might be...

His expression turned more serious as another thought flittered through
his mind. **I bet she's wondering the same thing about you...**

It wasn't so easy to make time to see each other now that they were in
separate Wings. When she was in Cyan, she was right in front of him, a
constant reminder that when drills were finished, they could slough off
the formality, and perhaps even their clothes, and make time for each
other. It was something to look forward to. And it wasn't that he
_hadn't_ looked forward to seeing her, or that she was far from his
thoughts. Half the time he looked at a green in his Wing, he had to
look twice to remind himself it wasn't Aileyan. He missed her, missed
seeing her, and missed watching out for her. But now it was easy for
him to just walk inside once drills were finished and head straight for
his office and get lost behind a stack of hides and as the candle burned
down to a nub, he would think **I should find Aileyan... But I need to
bathe, and I could use something to eat and a drink... Maybe it can
wait until tomorrow...**

Of course, it was not an every day occurrence that he would fail to make
time for her. He did try to check in on her and Ravyan every day. It
was just sometimes everyday stretched to every other day, or every few
days.

**You're a sharding ass...** U'kaiah admonished himself. **She moved so
she could be with you!** Maybe this was why U'kaiah had avoided serious
attachments and responsibilities for so long. He seemed to be failing
miserably at it.

Well, he might not be able to make up for all the time they were losing,
but he could be sure that at least tonight, she would know that she was
not forgotten.

Aileyan was tired. Fighting in a Queen's wing was different and getting
used to it was exhausting. Sometimes she felt that she and S'vin were
only
healthy riders and had to protect everyone else.
Kjarliheth was enjoying herself but she too was dragging her wings after
drills and Falls. She seemed to do much more darting around than before.

Rounding the corner, she came to the corridor outside their weyr. She
spotted U'kaiah leaning against the wall next to her door...and was he
holding flowers? That brought smile to her lips. She had missed him,
missed seeing him everyday, missed watching him keep wingmeetings.

"Hello there," he grinned as he watched her approach. Holding the
flowers out to her he said, "I saw your Wing drilling late and thought
maybe you were having a rough day. These are for you."

"Everyday is rough without you," she said. She had to stand on her toes
to kiss him.

Her answer pleased his manly ego. What a deliciously charming answer,
he thought as he dipped his head to meet her lips a bit easier, his hand
wrapping around her hips to pull her even closer. "Well," he murmured
soft and low, "I'm here now. And Ravyan's not. I've made arrangements
for him with the foster mother tonight, and I have sent word to reserve
a table for us in some dark corner at the Vintner Hall's Tavern."

"That's wonderful," she was delighted and pleasantly surprised by the
effort he's made.

"Why don't you go put these in some water, wash up and get dressed and
meet me there? Oh, and..." He leaned in close so his lips grazed her
ear, "wear the dress that ties in the back you wore on Turns End, and
don't wear your knots."

"All right," she said, his kiss making her toes curl. She went in and
beaconed him to follow. Finding a vase and putting the flowers there
didn't take long.

As she was making her way to her closet to find her dress, U'kaiah
caught her hand and kissed it. "I'll go ahead and make sure everything
is prepared. Don't take long, all right?"

"I'll be quick," Aileyan promised and run to bathroom. She didn't wash
her hair, drying it took too long, but she did rebraid it so it didn't look
like it's been crammed under the helmet. She used scented sweetsand.

As requested, they had seated him in the corner, darker and slightly
hidden from the eyes of the other guests.
U'kaiah grinned as the greenrider walked through the tavern door. There
had barely been time to open the bottle of fine Vintner Hall wine!
**She certainly didn't waste time,** he thought rather smugly, his eyes
drinking in the site of her.

Aileyan had to admit to herself that the dress did make her feel pretty.
She smiled when she spotted U'kaiah.

He stood, the white teeth of his grin shinning despite the dim, and
pulled out the chair next to his for her. "You look stunning." It was
not an empty compliment. His fertile mind was already imagining how
much fun he was going to have peeling that dress off of her!

"You look handsome yourself," Aileyan replied, beaming under the
compliment. This was a rare occasion for her. She took the seat. "So,
what good you have for us?"

"_Lot's_ of good things," he said, pushing a glass of wine towards her.
"Starting with a fine bottle of fresh Vintner Hall wine. we have some
cheeses and breads, and soon they should be bringing the roast avian and
vegetables. But, best of all..." U'kaiah looked rather pleased with
himself as he reached into his tunic pocket and produced a brassy key
which he set next to her glass of wine. "We have a room."

"Sounds wonderful," she replied and she was not talking about the food.
Aileyan reminded herself to be careful with the wine. She did not want
to ruin a perfect evening by getting drunk!

"I _might_ have told them a little bit of a lie..." he said with an
apologetic look on his face. "I _might_ have told them that you were
the daughter of a Harper Master, and that I was rescuing you from an
arranged marriage to a very unappealing man. Stealing you away, youU'kaiah pulled off his riding helmet and was about to head inside the
