Description: The healer requests larger quarters from the Headwoman.

Date: month 8, day 12 of Turn 6

On the top of his list was seeing Zelanka. His current quarters would
not be suitable for a wife and a baby, and possibly more down the
line. While he still preferred to be near the infirmary if it was
possible, it wasn't completely necessary. Wondering what she might
have available, Chupsin arrived at her office and knocked.
"Please, come in!" Zelanka replied through the door.
Walking inside, he sat down without asking since they knew each other so
well. It wasn't their usual meeting time so she would have guessed
something was different. Tourniquet was riding on his shoulder and the
bronze firelizard made a little chirp before settling, his eyes
watching the Headwoman. "I need to ask you about something."
"Ask away," Zelanka smiled. "You know I'm always available for you."
"Allright so I'm afraid I am going to need larger quarters soon. I'd still
like to be near the infirmary if it can be arranged, but it isn't
completely necessary." He knew she was going to ask why. It would
probably come out soon enough anyway since her father would want to
tell people.
"How come?" she asked curiously, at the same time, she was taking out the
floor maps from her neatly organized piles.
"I'm finally getting married," he announced, deadpan, as he watched for her
reaction. She'd seen him practically grow up, so it sort of made sense to
tell her before anyone else.
"Congratulations," Zelanka said with genuine delight. "Who is the lucky
woman?" she asked. It was a natural question. In her opinion, Chupsin
was indeed a good catch for any hold girl. He had his failings but so
did everybody.
"I don't know if you know her...Alivya? Farmer's daughter." If that
wasn't a study in opposites, he didn't know what was.
"I know everyone here," Zelanka pointed out. "Although I'm more familiar
with her mother than her," she continued.
"Aye well, so I need somewhere to put a wife and possibly children since
I do plan to be doing my husbandly duties," he seriously hoped she didn't
comment further about that declaration.
"Good for you," Zelanka said and consulted the floor maps for available
rooms. She was naturally curious, this seemed so sudden, but she
refused to pry. It was not her business and she respected Chupsin.
"The separate cots outside are out of the question?"
"Things would be harder if we got really bad winter weather and I couldn't
get to the Hold," he said after considering. Not that he was the only
healer at the Hold, but he was the senior.
"So the main building then," Zelanka said thoughtfully. "The rooms next to
Solmartan's will be vacated soon, if you can wait for a month or two,"
she said. "Unfortunately, there isn't much to choose from right now.
Plenty of smaller quarters available, but no family rooms."
Considering his options, Chupsin thought about timing. For now, it would
just be Alivya and himself. They wouldn't even be married for another
month anyhow. He supposed that would be fine. "I think that will work
for now. How many bedchambers are in that one?"
"Three," she replied after consulting her chart. "One larger master
bedroom and two smaller ones. "
"I think that might do then. Is there any way I could look at it?" He was
slightly curious to be sure. It sounded like more than enough room.
Still, if there wasn't large enough living quarters, the bedchambers
wouldn't matter.
"I have to check with the current residents but I think it could be
arranged," Zelanka replied.
"That would be appreciated. I'll get out of your hair then for now.
You know where to find me when you find out." He gave a small smile.
Certainly Zelanka knew him better than most. She'd watched him grow.
"I'll send you a word. Do you want Alivya involved too?" Zelanka asked.
"No need to bother her. She's preparing for the ceremony. I'll take
care of things." His tone was dismissive, clearly showing how he felt
about his future bride for the moment. Most would think he was
marrying her to have someone to clean up after him. Not many would
think that he had compromised her.
Zelanka's eyebrows arched. Now, that set an interesting tone for this
marriage!
"Very well, while I'm here was there anything else that needed to be
discussed?" He didn't think there had been any changes to the limited-duty list.
"Not on my behalf. You have all the supplies you need at the infirmary?"
Zelanka replied and asked.
"I could use more bandages. I had to burn a lot of older ones that were
unusable any longer," he answered quickly.
"All right, more bandages, I'll see to it," Zelanka said and wrote a
note of it. One reason why she was so effective was that she kept
notes and
organized things.
"I'll leave you to it then," he replied before getting up and
gesturing his farewell to her.
"See you around, Chupsin," she replied, her attention already drifting
back to what she was doing before Chupsin came.
