Description: S'yei and Blayre play a drinking game that exposes some important secrets.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 6 of Turn 6
"As you can see, my stock is quite full. I justify my collection by
claiming it gives me the opportunity to work from home. I'm sure you
understand," Blayre explained as he carefully retrieved a skin from
the back. Grabbing two glasses from the rack nearby, he motioned to
the couch. He was looking forward to having night to let his hair
down. It had been far too long since he'd really enjoyed himself and
what better way than good wine and even better company?
S'yei smiled as he accepted the glass of wine from Blayre and
retreated to the couch offered by the vintner. While the man's
collection of wine was indeed impressive, and the vintner in S'yei
appreciated it, he was more interested in the crafter presenting the
wine.
"I do, I love the little collection I have in my weyr." The bluerider confessed.
"You know I still can't believe I haven't been over to your place yet.
Even after all this time I have yet to see an actual _weyr_ where a
dragon actually lives." Blayre supposed this was something of his
fault. His feelings regarding S'yei had surprised him in a way. He
found that the more time they spent together the more attracted to the
bluerider he became. These feelings were not entirely foreign to him
but they had certainly been ignored for quite some time.
Just the thought of having Blayre alone in _his_ weyr set S'yei's
blood on fire and he had to remind himself to behave. Just because he
thought of the vintner constantly, and had dreams about him, didn't
mean he was any closer to having Blayre in his furs. What made the
situation so tricky was that S'yei enjoyed Blayre's company on
something more than just a physical level. Therefore he didn't want to
do anything that might jeopardize their tentative relationship, even
it could even be called that.
"You're welcome over any time." S'yei assured Blayre and followed the
statement with a generous mouthful of wine.
"I think I will then. So, shall we play a game or just let the wine sink in?
I'm good with whatever." He swirled his glass and then took a deep drink.
S'yei's ears perked up and immediately the bluerider's thoughts went
to all kinds of "games" that he would like to play with Blayre, only
he wasn't sure the vintner was up for what he had in mind....
"A game?" He questioned to clarify.
Smiling as he sipped the last bit of wine from his glass, Blayre remembered
a favorite game of his. He explained as he refilled both their glasses. "You've
probably played it before. It's a question and answer game of sorts.
Someone says something they think they know about the other person. If what they
say is true, the person in question drinks. If they are wrong however,
the questioner drinks. It's good fun and a good way to get to know
anyone at a party.
You up for it?"
It certainly seemed a good way to get to know Blayre better, and enjoy
some wine in the process, S'yei determined. With a smile he inclined
his head, "Let the game begin then." He said with a wave of his hand
to indicate that Blayre should start.
Clearing his throat and sipping his wine, Blayre thought of something
to guess. He knew S'yei but not entirely well. They had talked about
their shared craft, their homes, those sorts of things. "Hmm...you've
never been weyrmated."
S'yei stared at Blayre a moment, laughter gleaming in his eyes before
he smiled, "Drink up." He indicated to the vintner. S'yei had been
weyrmated, _once_ upon a time, and it was something that he didn't
plan on rushing into again. Not that it had been a _bad_ experience
necessarily.
"Really?" Blayre responded in a disbelieving tone. He took his drink
though and tried to imagine S'yei as a spoken for man. It just didn't
seem in his character but Blayre supposed everyone wanted that level
of love at some point. "Quick, take your turn before I kill all our
fun."
"You've never kissed a man." S'yei didn't have to hesitate to come up
with his truth about Blayre. He would be incredibly surprised if
proven wrong but something about Blayre told the bluerider that he was
inexperienced with men.
**Saw that coming.** Blayre thought to himself. It seemed that his
love life was something the two of them had left rather untouched
except for the basics. He had gotten the impression though that S'yei
could see right through him. Blayre shook his head and drained his
glass. The effects of the Centage were starting to take effect and
Blayre loosened his shirt in attempt to cool off.
Continuing the game Blayre said, "You already knew the answer to your question."
"Maybe," S'yei conceded with a sly grin, although there were some
mental calculations going on behind his pretty eyes, "but I just
wanted the confirmation." As Blayre loosened a couple of the buttons
on his tunic, S'yei followed every movement, his eyes drinking in the
scant few inches of skin that he could now see.
"Your turn."
Refilling his glass again, Blayre thought again. "You intend to change
me don't you?" His tone didn't suggest that he was upset by
possibility but rather just wanted confirmation. S'yei made certain
feelings in him arise. Feelings that he would normally ignore but the
bluerider seemed determined to expose.
S'yei's eyes narrowed marginally and then without a word he lifted his
glass to his lips and took a deep drink, never breaking eye contact
with Blayre. How was that for an answer?
The journeyman's eyes widened. Quickly standing up, which caused him
to wobble precariously for a moment, he said, "We're going to need
more wine." They had in fact drained their first skin and if S'yei's
answer was any indication they would most certainly need one or
perhaps two more skins. He reached for cheaper stuff.
Returning to his seat and plopping down Blayre said, "I believe it's
your turn, dear."
S'yei stood, determined not to let Blayre drink to the point that this
evening was a blur the next day. He wanted the vintner, but he didn't
think Blayre having to be drunk was a good sign. Moving over to the
man, S'yei set the wine skin aside, and took the glass from Blayre's
hand. Moving both items to the table, the bluerider took one of
Blayre's hands and drew the crafter to his feet. For a long moment
S'yei stared down into Blayre's rich green eyes before dipping his
head and pressing a soft, unassuming kiss to the vintner's lips.
