"Hold on." Raen yelled into Kel's ear as her dragon Amiath backwinged
flaring her wings out to cup the air.

Kel merely tightened his grip around his sister's slender waist and
locked his legs into place as she'd taught him through the landing.

The emerald green dragon's rear legs reached for the ground she
lowered herself gracefully to the ground touching down with a
light bounce as she folded away her wings, tail flicking the ground
like an excitible feline.

He too looked around curiously flicking his long blonde fringe out of
his dark green eyes,
this was his and Raen's new home. Dusk his brown flit popped into the
air from /between/ almost on his head. Dusk chittered to his pet as he
landed on his shoulder slinging his brown tail around the lad's neck
casually as he clutched Kel's hair. For once the flit was as curious
as his pet and as far from his usual sleepy state as it was possible
to be, he was looking around and telling Kel all about what he saw.

"He's alive today isn't he?" Raen commented tossing a grin over her
shoulder as she pulled matching blonde hair out of her mouth, a pair
of dark green eyes to match laughed with him as she unbuckled
her straps and climbed easily down to the ground.

Kel heard his sister's dragon Amiath rumble in excitment and knew from
Raen's unfocused look that she was talking to her dragon. He swallowed
a pang of envy and heartache at the sight as he busied himself with
unbuckling his own straps and following Raen's example. This time he
would Impress, he just had to, he didn't know what he'd do with
himself if he came away alone, again. But third time lucky seemed to
literally be true for his family. He remembered Raen had had to wait
through three Hatchings before she Impressed her dragon and he felt
better, shoulders unconciously straigtening in line with his positive
thoughts. Following his pets emotions Dusk chirped supportively
sending a wave of affection to him and nuzzling the boy's ear fondly,
showing he was not alone. Kel smiled reaching up with his free hand to
scratch Dusk's round brown tummy returning the easy affection he was recieving.

"Amiath says that Panitath's is waiting for you and knows you are
here. You should report to her office, I'm heading to report with you
as I'm being assigned to Volcano Wing." Raen informed him with a smile
as Squeaker her blue flit erupted from /between/ squeaking a greeting
as he descended to land on the young greenrider's shoulder.

Kel nodded. "Will she be alright here on her own still loaded down
with all our gear?" He questioned gesturing with a jerk of his head
Amiath who had settled back on her haunches feline like, tail curled
around her with the tip still
flicking the ground as she checked out her new home and greeted other
dragons judging by her croons and warbles.

The young dragon was loaded up with his two canvas sacks containing his
clothing and other personal items, Raen's gear was like so.

She nodded splitting a fond smile between her older brother and dragon.
"She'll be fine for a candlemark or so, while we
work out where we're at and what's happening. She is more interested
in getting to know new dragons then she is in moving right now
anyway."

Kel nodded okay to this as the dragon did seem happy to stay put for
now as the siblings headed towards the Lower Caverns splitting up
along the way as they sought different people.
Along the way he stopped to ask for directions from
passing Weyrfolk to the Weyrwoman's Second office as Dusk fell asleep
on his pet meaning he was useless for scouting.

One of the young women in the lower caverns took pity on the young
candidate. She was bringing a fresh pot of klah to the Weyrwoman's
Second. It was a rather round about route to get there. "Follow me,"
she said to the young man and proceeded up the stairs.

"Come in," called Cyradis when she heard the knock on the door. When
the door opened she looked up. "Good morning Teselle," she smiled as
the drudge delivered her klah.

"Morning Ma'am," said the young woman. "I've brought you a visitor."

"Oh? Is this our new candidate?"

Kel smiled at Teselle as she turned to go. "Thank you for your help.
I'm still not sure
how I got so lost. I'd have been wandering
around down here for days without ever finding my way back out or to
where I was going." He thanked her with a sheepish chuckle.

"Yes ma'am, I'm Kelwin your transfer from River Bluff Weyr, but I
prefer Kel if that's okay with you. This lump on my shoulder is my
flit Dusk." He answered Cryadis easily friendly smile still in place as he
responded to the Weyrwoman Second jerking a thumb at a still snoozing
Dusk who was curled around his pet's neck.

"I have my transfer papers with me if you'd like to see them" He
offered pulling his neatly folded transfer papers out from inside his
tunic where he'd put them for safe keeping on the journey between
Weyrs.

Shadow greeted the other brown flit with a chirp from the high back of
her chair. "Nice to meet you Kelwin. Yes that would be good," she said
reaching out for the documents.

"if you have any questions feel free to ask." He told her as he handed
over his papers and nudged his snoozing firelizard who woke with a drowsy
hum looking about with sleepy, half lidded eyes.

"Someone was talking to you." He scolded Dusk gesturing to Shadow.

Dusk chirped a somewhat sheepish hello in response.

Cyradis chuckled, then looked at the documents she'd been given.
"These look to be in order," she said. "What brings you to Dolphin
Cove?"

Kel's wry smile told it's own story as did the sad glint quickly appearing
then vanishing in his dark green eyes.

"Several things ma'am. The main one being my younger sister is a greenrider,
she was transferring here and I needed a fresh start. We have a
saying in my family that third time
lucky does the trick, I've stood twice for Hatchings back at River
Bluff but come away still a Candidate. This will be my third go at
finding my dragon lifemate and I thought I might have more luck the
third time round if i tried again at a different Weyr. Maybe he or
she simply wasn't going to be born there. My sister stood three times
and Impressed the third time." He answered her.

"Maybe this time it'll be my turn to get lucky." He added ruefully.

That really wasn't a bad reason, staying in the same area as a sibling
who'd been transferred. She nodded. "So you've pretty much been
through all the lessons for Candidates then," she mused. "Well," she
said. "I do think we'll send you on to Qorri. She is the headwoman and
will get you situated with a bunk in the candidate barracks. Of course
you'll still go through evaluation here under her supervision. I wish
you well."

Cyradis stood and reached out a hand to the young man to give him back
his transfer papers.

Kel accepted the papers back and smiled at Cyradis. "I have a good
feeling about being here, I made the right choice." He told her as he
stood up and shook her hand very polietly Dusk managing a polite chirp
of farewell of his own.

He truely did have a good feeling about Dolphin Cove Weyr and felt his
luck might be with him this time around and he might Impress this
time, as he exited his Weyrwoman second's office he glanced down at
the piece of paper he now held giving him directions to find the
Headwoman and this new bed.
