B'ram sat on the stone-cold floor, his back braced against his bed, holding his head in his hands. The click of the door as she left echoed in his ears. It might as well have been an arrow shot into his gut. His face still burned with anger, shame, and a passion that he had only felt from the after affects of a flight. Shells, but that woman had known just how to hurt him, just how to wrench his mind as easily as she had twisted the knob of his weyr door as she left him alone with his thoughts. He groaned as lowered himself onto his side and pulled his knees close to his chest. The images of the past candlemark, the sounds, the feelings...
they haunted him even as Girifith reached out to him with thoughts of love and concern. **Sharding Traelyn. _Sharding_ woman!**
The heels of her boots clicking on stone was the only sound in the corridors as she fled from his weyr. She dashed the lingering tears from her cheeks, her jaw setting, her fingers tightening on the hem of her tunic as she fought with herself.
What had she _done_?
Traelyn could still see him above her, and his eyes...the look in his eyes had been nearly unreadable. But she remembered the overwhelming lust, and the undeniable anger, in his movements.
And in hers.
She paused at the bend in the hallway, one hand reaching out to touch the cold stone, as if she could steady herself - steady her whirling thoughts and emotions - just by touching something firm. Something solid. Something that wouldn't crumble.
A sound similar to a soft moan escaped her. What had she _done_?
The chill of the floor on bare skin sent a shiver through his body. He sat up slowly, wincing as his scratched skin stretched with his movements.
They were starting to sting now, on his back, his arms, his chest, his cheek. He felt each one, and as he refastened his trousers he berrated himself, for he knew he had deserved them all. He deserved them for letting her do this to him. He deserved them for enjoying what they had done, for each painful scratch had been his punishment for the pleasure he felt in running his lips along her skin. And shards, those eyes... Those beautiful flashing grey eyes that pulled him in further...
She leaned her head back against the wall, letting it roll slowly to one side as her hand reached up to finger the sore spot on the side of her neck. His lips and teeth had latched on to her there as his hands had wandered, roughly stroking her. Biting her lower lip, her eyes closing, she ran that hand down her chest, touching breasts, stomach, hips...shards, she ached. She ached so much...
Traelyn could feel Nyith reaching for her mind. The queen's love for her flowed through her thoughts like molten gold. And she clung to that love
- that reassurance that she was not alone. She was never alone.
B'ram touched his finger to his bottom lip. It was swollen, he could tell. Not surprising considering the wonderful way she bit and sucked at it. He shook his head to clear that memory out of his mind. He didn't _want_ to remember how good it felt! The brownrider knew he should check himself in the mirror and see just how bad the damage was. His arms slipped back into his shirt, first one sleeve and then the other. He hissed through his teeth as the fabric came to settle on painful scratches. When he reached for the buttons to fasten it closed he found several missing and the fabric ripped. She had done that, he remembered, in her intense need to touch him. His head swooned a bit as he remembered her fingers ripping aside his shirt and her mouth following the contours of his muscles. "Scorch it all, woman! Get out of my head!"
Her hand slowly moved back up her body to her swollen lips, to her cheek, her temple...until she rubbed her brow. Gently at first, then with more force, as if she could drive those images of him away from her thoughts the harder she rubbed. Those images of his mouth sucking on her neck, his lips bruising hers, his teeth grazing the soft skin of her collarbones as he worked his way further down, his hands kneading her breasts, callused fingers sliding down her ribs to hold her hips still...to keep her from moving. And she had moaned. And he had answered her by softly growling her name...
And his eyes...
Her jaw tightened, her eyes snappping open to stare out down the darkened corridor. Amidst their mutual anger and pain, there had been pleasure.
Shards. What had they _done_?
"Oh shards, L'kub, what did I do?" B'ram whispered to the stone walls. He had told himself that it was revenge for his friend, for the pain she had inflicted on him. But he knew the truth. It had been retaliation for _himself_, and that shamed him even more. He deserved to hurt. B'ram knew he deserved to suffer for using L'kub as an excuse to finally give in to his urgings and touch her. No, not touch her, _have_ her...
In a sudden decision, Traelyn pushed herself from the wall. She needed to get somewhere familiar. Somewhere safe. Somewhere where she wouldn't _think_ about him...about what they had done.
Shards... How would she ever face him now?
No. She wouldn't even think about that. Her cheeks burned with shame.
She wouldn't.
}:But why do you feel so much pain, B'ram? You liked it? I know you did.
And she liked it too.:{ his brown whispered, confused at his riders mixed feelings.
**No, I didn't like it. I don't like it,** B'ram answered, but he knew better. He could not lie to Girifith any more than to himself. **I shouldn't like it.**
}:But if it makes you feel so good, why shouldn't you like it?:{
**For so many reasons, Girifith. There are so many _sharding_ reasons why I should not have like it!** B'ram held his head in his hands. **I should not have done it...** How could he look her or anyone else in the eye now?
Traelyn hesitated before the door to her weyr, her hand stilled over the knob - suddenly struck by the sharp pang of loneliness she hadn't felt in a long while. She suddenly felt so alone in this Weyr that was still, in all honesty, so strange to her... So strange, with so many memories that she'd wanted to leave behind lurking in the shadows...following her.
So alone.
}:I'm here,:{ Nyith whispered. }:I'm always here.:{
