Characters: Telemon, Taren
Description: Telemon interviews a potential successor for him.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 5 of Turn 6

"Master Taren, so good you could come,"Telemon offered his hand to shake a
fellow master healer. The man whose hand he was shaking, was bit older than
he and had a sand coloured, graying hair and klah brown eyes. He was also
shorter and stockier than the Dragonsfall's Weyrhealer.

"Pleased to be here, despite the sharding cold!" Taren's smile was
easygoing and friendly.

"So, you have a weyrhealer's spot open?" he continued.

"Yes," Telemon replied and gestured him to take a seat. After they were
both seated across his desk, he continued: "I'm already resigned from my
current position and will leave the weyr as soon as new Weyrhealer can take
over the duties. So, why are you interested in moving to Dragonsfall Weyr?
I understood that you are already a Weyrhealer?"

"Yes, on Windswept Island! The smallest and most remote weyr they could
find me," Taren leaned backwards and crossed his hands over his belly. "Any
place is step up from that! Besides, I think I'm already served my sentence
and can return from exile." Of course he had other motives too, but those
he kept to himself.

"Exile?" Telemon asked.

"Yes. They sent me there as punishment."

"Of what?"

"Of being caught having sex with an apprentice at the hall. The hallmaster
in Jade Harbour took a rather dim view of it. They wanted to avoid scandal
though, so it was hushed up and I was shipped out."

"Apprentice? I didn't know they accept female apprentices at the healer
hall."

"They still don't," Taren retorted.

It took a while before the implications registered in Telemon's mind and
when it did, he was caught off-guard and flabbergast.

"He was absolutely gorgeous," Taren sighed with longing. "And a red head. I
can't resist red heads. I always fall for them." He noted the other
healer's discomfort with amusement. If he reacted this way, no wonder he
was so eager to leave the Weyr.

"Oh…ah…You're…well adjusted to weyrlife then," Telemon stumbled with his
words. His cheek were actually blushed.

"You can say so," Taren agreed. "I'm weyrbred throughout. I think I still
have half-siblings alive in River Bluff Weyr." He wasn't very good at
staying in touch with his kin.

"How about Windswept Island weyr? Aren't you leaving them without a
Weyrhealer, if you accept the position here?" Telemon was desperately
trying to get the interview back to tracks.

"Nah, no worries. Istahara is ready to take over. I've trained her well.
She might be bit young, but she's got good head on her shoulder and quick
hands. She's fastest stitcher I've ever met. She can do fifteen stitches in
a time I do five." Taren obviously had taken everything into consideration.

It was clear to Telemon that older healer had taken charge of the
interview. If he was as efficient in running the infirmary, Dragonsfall
Weyr would be fine. If anyone was suited to be Weyrhealer, it was Taren.
