Description: Rhosyn gives her congratulations to the riders at the hatching.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 11 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: N'vanik
Coming through the crowd, the River Bluff Weyrwoman spotted her
targets. Waylaid by a few folks, she finally made it to where the young
goldrider and the Wingsecond stood. Smiling, Rhosyn came up to give her
congratulations. "Well done!"
Meledei's smile was already plastered on her face. Frankly, she'd been
smiling since the first note of the first hum had sounded through the
air. She inclined her head to the Weyrwoman and lifted her glass of
wine. "Thank you. It's good to see you again Rhosyn. How are you?"
"Good to see you," R'enh smiled and leaned in to give Rhosyn a kiss.
She returned R'enh's greeting with a hug and a smile of her own before
turning to Meledei. "Oh I'm fine. Enjoying the food and all. I always
love hatchings, but I think any rider does." She hadn't yet managed a
dance, but the night was young.
"Hatchings make the best parties." In Meledei's opinion, and
especially _that_ particular hatching. "I am glad you came and am
glad to hear that you're enjoying yourself. Are you staying the night
or heading out after the festivities?"
R'enh smiled. He could offer his own weyr but that would be a bit
tacky in front of Meledei especially on her day so he refrained,
opting for a simply friendly conversation. "I'm sure there's a place
here if you'd like to stay." He thought perhaps N'vanik might have
arranged something.
"Well I don't know yet really. Depends on a few things." She did glance
in R'enh's direction then, but continued on. "Elleth's a big girl now,
though."
Rhosyn had noticed a slight change in Orlaith after her first flight.
It had been subtle, but it was there. The gold had seemed to mature,
realizing her power then.
Big? Well, relative to what she was when she was first hatched, sure,
but Orlaith made Elleth look like a midget. Meledei's mouth quirked up
in amusement. Not that she minded. Elleth may have been small, but
she had a good clutch. And, of course, Rhosyn didn't necessarily mean
big in size, but it still amused the young goldrider. "Yes, I suppose
she is. Orlaith had a good clutch I hear. Are the weyrlings doing
well?"
R'enh winked at Rhosyn when she glanced in his direction. He knew
Meledei wasn't willing to climb in his furs. For even though they were
friendly, she was more of a sibling than anything else. He didn't
really mind because she was still young and had her own needs. If he
had his way he'd at least give Rhosyn a good spin on the dance floor
later.
"Oh they're fine, though it'll be interesting to see what happens as
they progress. A good well colored bunch, healthy." She didn't get to
see them much but Orlaith watched them often. "It's fun to see little
dragonets around." Seeing the wink, she didn't say anything just then,
but it was clear she wanted to later. "I'm glad it turned out for you
Meledei. Your first hatching is always a special thing you won't
forget. Tell Elleth we said congratulations."
Meledei tilted her head, noting the wink even though she didn't react
to it. "Thank you Rhosyn. You've honoured us by attending. I hope you
continue to enjoy yourself." She knew the two had been friends but for
some reason she honestly wasn't sure how she felt about that gesture
that seemed a little more intimate than just friends.
He saw the change in her eyes but he'd wait until a little later. His
duty was to Meledei for the moment. "Save me a dance later Rhosyn," he
smiled.
"Shall we?" He squeezed Meledei's hand. It was about time to show her
off on the dance floor.
"Yes, let's." Meledei agreed and she inclined her head once more to
Rhosyn before allowing R'enh to lead her onto the floor.
