Characters: Blayre, Rhosyn
Description: Blayre and Rhosyn discuss wine for the hatching.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 20 of Turn 6

She was sitting in her office, looking at some of the things she still
had to do. The Headwoman was doing most of the work, but there was one thing Rhosyn wanted to do for herself. She looked up at the window to judge the time by the light. **Just when is he going to get here?**

Blayre had been working on selecting the right vintages for the last
candlemark now and had hurriedly put them into their skins. Knocking on the Weyrwoman's door but not waiting for an answer, the Vintner entered the office. "My apologies, Weyrwoman, for keeping you waiting. I just wanted to be sure I had the right selection."

"Aye well tell me what I'm going to taste." She searched him for cheese.
There was usually cheese.

He took his cue and pulled a small wheel of cheese out of his bag. Slicing it with his belt knife he handed it to Rhosyn. "First I've got a nice red from a local vendor. This one is rather wet and has a full taste. Give it a go." He handed her a cordial of the wine and prepared a second sample as he awaited her reaction.

Rhosyn was not a wine aficionado, but she had been drinking it for some
time. She knew what she liked and what she didn't. Taking it, she put it to her lips, took a small drink, swished it around for a bit, then swallowed. "Good..." she encouraged, ready for more. She took a drink of water to wash the taste before looking for the second.

Trading her first cordial for the second Blayre said, "This one is a
pink from a little further east of us I believe. Made from a sweeter fruit but is tangy up front. It would make a good dessert wine." Catching onto Rhosyn's pace, Blayre began pouring samples from his last two bags.

She tasted that one, decided upon her opinion, and reached for a piece
of cheese. Rhosyn considered the selection. "Tell me, what would be involved in bringing these here."

"Well with the proper sense of urgency I could have the full shipment
here in about, let's say...a sevenday most likely two? It depends on who has stock and when the next shipment goes out. These wines are from more private establishments and they can take longer to procure. The more 'homemade' establishments, if you will, tend to lack a certain sense of urgency we here in the Weyr are used to." He hoped this was acceptable. Of course if the need was urgent he was sure perhaps a few dragons could be enlisted to help out.

"Hmmm.....and of course we'd have to see about the proper accoutrements.
Blayre, you aren't holding out on me are you? Anything else?" She put an
eye on him.

Suddenly Blayre grew nervous though he didn't know why. He had nothing
to hide. He really had brought some of his best wines with him. "No, ma'am. The rest of the stock is of lesser quality than these in some way or another. Though if this isn't even I do have contacts up North but I thought it would be nice to keep things local."

"Allright, let's go with the first and third with the same cheeses we
had today. See the Headwoman about ordering." Glad that was settled, Rhosyn kept what was left to finish. "That's all I need Blayre unless you need something else."

The Journeyman made a note before replying, "Nothing at all, ma'am. Thanks
for your time." With that he packed his things and left the office. He did
stop to take a deep breath once the door was closed before returning to the lower caverns.
