Easily bored

Characters: Xuxha, I'lan
Description: I'lan and Xuxha play cards, and possibly a little more
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 7, day 20 of Turn 3

"I fold." Xuxha slapped the cards down on the table and leaned back in
her chair. She had won a little during that game and she wasn't
prepared to stake what she had on that hand. She supposed she could
have bluffed, but that sometimes backfired. The greenrider turned her
gaze towards I'lan, watching him as she tilted back another drink.

"Hmmm...." I'lan studied his hand. With a Weyrleader and Weyrwoman,
plus a Lord Holder in his hand it was fairly good. "One more please,"
he asked of the dealer.

The card was slipped face down to him, he slid it off the table, and
managed to supress a grin as the rest of the players folded. After
that, there was just him and T'jaker left.

"I'll see you," said the brownrider, tossing in his last 16th mark.

"Read 'em and weep," I'lan turned over his cards one by one, there was
no beating his hand.

"Good one." Xuxha murmured as she took a look at what I'lan had lain
down. "Now I'm definitely glad I didn't stay in."

"I'm done for the evening." A greenrider, Cheska, pushed her cards
towards the middle of the table. "My body is telling me that it really
needs some sleep."

"Just sleep?" teased I'lan as he scooped up the pot. It wasn't much,
only about 3 marks or so, but it was better than losing.

"Yes, just sleep." Cheska pushed her chair back and stood. "Good
game, though."

"Later Ches." Xuxha smiled at the other woman as she turned and headed
off.

"I think I'm going to call it a day too." Y'ron hadn't been doing too
well, which probably contributed to his desire to quit. He stood, then
stretched lazily.

"Oh well," I'lan tossed them a half salute. "Here I was on a winning
streak."

"There will be other times, I'lan." Xuxha chugged down the last of the
wine in her glass. "There's usually a bunch of people willing to play
the night before a rest day."

"I'm sure there will be, but I was having fun here."

"Well, all fun must come to an end." Xuxha shrugged. "Just look
forward to the fact that, if you so desire, you can do it again next
sevenday."

"Perhaps," he said. "Or maybe I could go find a market and spend some
of the winnings."

"What do you want to buy?"

"I could do with a new shirt for gathers, my good one is getting a bit
tight." He was right, since impression, the young man had bulked up and
needed a bigger size.

"Where do you have in mind?" Xuxha leaned forward and folded her hands
beneath her chin. "And would you mind company? I'd love to go along
if you're willing."

"Garnet Valley maybe, or Jade Harbour," siad the younger man, thinking
aloud. "Somewhere a little different, and yes company would be good."

"I'm afraid it's a bit late to go tonight though."

"Next market day will do," he said.

"So what do we do in the meantime?"

"What would you like to do?" he replied, tossing the question back at
her.

"Not sure, but the night is young." Xuxha leaned her head back and
stared at the ceiling. "Surely there must be something to do. Ah, my
life, so very exciting, isn't it?"

"Can't have you getting bored, can we," he said with a grin.

"Of course not." Xuxha replied, adding a chuckle. "When I get bored,
bad things could happen."

"Bad things?" An eyebrow was raised in question.

"Yes." Xuxha nodded gravely. "Someone might find his boot laces tied
together when he wakes up."

"And how might 'he' avoid that fate?"

"Someone has to keep me entertained."

"And what form might that entertainment take?"

"See, that's for you to figure out." Xuxha grinned. "It'd better be
good, though. I can get easily bored."

"Hmmm.... Well how about I show you what I can do?"

Xuxha raised an eyebrow and cocked her head. "What can you do?"

"Walk this way and find out," he began to leave the room heading for
his weyr. Pausing, he looked to see if she was following him or not.
"You coming?"

A slow smile spread across Xuxha face and she pushed back her chair,
ignoring the protest it made. The woman stood and began to follow,
stating in reply, "I'm coming."
