Description: The three Jay's--and their mother--invite new boy S'yei to have dinner with them
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 7 of Turn 6
"S'yei! Over here!" Jaylene stood up when she saw the face of the new
boy walking through the crowded Dinning Hall. She and her family were
sitting alongside the concert stage, enjoying their dinner before
Jayonne and their mother took to the stage for some fast jigs and
reels.
S'yei was smiled when he saw his Wingthird waving to him. Plate in
hand, S'yei redirected his steps towards the stage where Jaylene sat
with her family. It was easy for S'yei to tell that it was Jaylene's
family as he could pick up telltale physical features in each of them.
"Good evening Jaylene."
"Hello sweetie." She waved him into an empty seat J'zen had gotten
for him. "This lovely boy is my brother J'zen. He and his green ride
in U'das' wing." The dark haired rider gave him his best smile and a
tiny wave. "And this scrawny thing is my baby brother, Jayonne. And
this here is our mother, Zelene." The two fiddlers nodded their
hellos to the new guy.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all." S'yei said to the group in general
as he took a seat, glad that his Wingthird was such a welcoming
person. Even though he'd already met plenty of people, S'yei had yet
to make any close friends.
"So what do you think of the place so far?" Jayonne asked, looking up
from tuning his fiddle. "Been up and down the coast yet?"
S'yei took a quick drink from his cup before answering Jayonne, "I'm
liking it pretty well. Although I must admit that since I'm from
Dragonsfall I've had to get use to the heat here at River Bluff. And
unfortunately I haven't had a chance to really get to the coast yet."
"Really?" J'zen perked up at that. "You don't know what you're
missing out on..there's some beautiful places about." He gave the
bluerider his best smile.
"Maybe you can show me to them some time." S'yei returned J'zen's
smile as he helped himself to some of the food on his plate.
"I'd love to," the greenrider all but purred.
**Well that should be an interesting visit to the beach.** S'yei
thought with a little grin at J'zen's response. They certainly were a
fun family, S'yei thought as he glanced around the table at each of
them.
"So do you have family close by?" their mother asked.
S'yei nodded, "I was born at Dragonsfall, my mother works in the
kitchens and my father is a brownrider." He explained finding that
talking about his parents made him feel nostalgic.
Jayonne perked up at that. "So why the move then?" He couldn't
imagine leaving his family.
The bluerider waved his hand nonchalantly, "I was just ready for a
change. My parents have their lives, and as much as I love them, I
didn't get to see them very much anyway. They have other children to
tend to, after all. My mother's just recently taken up a couple of
foster children as well." S'yei took a sip of his klah, "So I opted
for a change of scenery."
"And here you are," J'zen added, waving his hand over his head.
"You'll fit in just fine. There's pretty much a party somewhere every
night of the sevenday."
"Well, if one of you wouldn't mind me being your shadow, I'd love to
go with you to one of them. Not knowing very many people yet makes
social gatherings a bit awkward, I'm afraid. If I were to go with one
of you I, at least, wouldn't be the pathetic dragonrider standing by
the refreshment table alone." S'yei smiled good-naturedly.
"Hmm.." J'zen mused. "I'm not sure I'd like you as my shadow..but as
my date, on the other hand..." He gave the bluerider a flirty look.
S'yei laughed as he folded his arms on the table and leaned a little
closer to J'zen, "Then consider it done. After all, how popular would
I be at the party with the best looking date with me?"
"Very popular," J'zen answered smugly.
