Description: Yanley and Chupsin come to an agreement regarding her training.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 4, day 9 of Turn 6
It had been some time and the woman was turning out to be helpful. Chupsin was glad of the extra hands and eyes. The journeyman watched her as she sterilized some of his instruments. It was particularly helpful with the women. They saw a Lady there and didn't feel so uncomfortable at times. They also told her things that they didn't tell him.
Yanley felt his eyes on her and lifted her gaze from the work at hand, giving the journeyman a small smile and nod of her head. She really enjoyed her work at the infirmary, and now that she wasn't Lady Holder any longer, she could concentrate on it more thoroughly than ever before.
"Just wanted to say that you're doing well. Your presence has been most helpful." He wondered what else there was to teach her.
"Thank you. I have been enjoying my work here," Yanley replied. "Even the times when someone threw up on me," her eyes sparked with merriment.
"Aye that happens sometimes. Is there anything else that you'd like to learn more of? I am going to need someone who is qualified to assist me in surgery besides the senior apprentices, I'm sure. Three people would be best." Chupsin knew the apprentice could help with the sewing, but he needed someone to hand him instruments.
"I would love to learn that," Yanley replied.
"It means being here more often though," he warned, watching her eyes.
"Well," she said thoughtfully, "I think I can manage it, although I'm also helping Benani."
"That's true. Once your training is done, it wouldn't be that often I don't think if I can manage to get a senior apprentice out of my small bunch of them." Chupsin didn't need help with minor surgeries like
removing ingrown toenails. It was the larger undertakings that the healer needed assistance with.
Yanley nodded her agreement. She never thought she would end up as a healer's assistant. As a child, she had wanted to be a beastcrafter and she was grown up to a Lady holder.
"Allright I will try to work out a schedule. Can you let me know again when your duties are?" He would have to try and adjust things.
Yanley nodded. "I just have to fetch it from my room," she added.
"Allrighty then. In that case I'll leave you to what you were doing and go redo some wrappings." He had already ran through his mind the remaining items on his list of to-do chores.
"I'll finish this one first," Yanley nodded, gesturing at the work at hand.
"Aye, of course." Chupsin headed off into the small ward and began to change dressings for some of the patients. He believed in cleanliness and would not leave them for longer than a day.
