Description: The healer and steward discuss the holders who are injured and his appointment.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 3, day 9 of Turn 6
Wirnan made his way to the healer area. He wanted to check in on some
of the injured as well as get updated reports on the neighboring lands.
Amber Hills often sent out healers to the smaller cotholders when their
need arose and he needed to know how things had fared in the past few
sevendays. More injuries meant that the hold would receive less tithes
and depending on the circumstances perhaps he would need to send out
some experienced hands to assist the newer holders in order to see them
prosper. His eyes fell on a familiar figure as he entered.
"Ah, Chupsin, how goes things?"
He knew that voice. The Steward, the new one, had entered his work area.
**What does he want?** was the first thought that came to mind. "The same
as usual. The occasional farm accident, childbirth, and sometimes headaches."
"Just needed the information for my report to Lord Zathris. Any of the
accidents leave any of the holders unable to work? If so, I'll need to
check on them," Wirnan had really only dealt business with Chupsin up
to this point, so the conversation did not stray to anything more friendly.
"Let me see..." He turned and pulled his hides, where he made notes. Picking through until he reached the current conditions, he brought the hide up. "This is a copy of the list-you'll find any sort of conditions that may limit or effect the work of the holders in my care."
"Thank you," Wirnan accepted the list with gratitude. "I won't keep you if you are busy. You know if you ever need anything you are welcome to stop
by my office."
"Actually, I would like at least one new apprentice if there are any to be found at the outlying holds or anywhere. Of course, they can be housed in my section while under training, so I'll worry about that." He wondered if Wirnan knew of any likely candidates. The boys and girls he'd met were almost useless.
"Ah, I think I can help you there. I know of quite a few lads who are
just about the age to start apprenticing. Let me see if I can bring
some of them by or if they even have an interest in studying healing,"
Wirnan replied.
"That would be very well. And you've had your annual physical then?" He hadn't checked to see, but he liked to remind everyone.
"Er," Wirnan remarked shifting from foot to foot a bit. "I think that
must have slipped my mind what with my more recent marriage and all.
Perhaps I should schedule one with you when you happen to be free,"
Physicals weren't exactly his favorite thing. Being poked and prodded
and questioned about his daily living behaviors, but he knew it was a
necessary part of life.
"Aye, that would be a good idea. Set a good example for everyone else."
He nodded, thinking it would also be good for his young wife to be looked at, but he didn't voice that opinion.
"Hm, yes," Wirnan hedged. "Why don't we schedule one while I'm here,
then I won't be able to forget." He didn't _want_ to be poked and prodded,
but he also figured it would be best to get it out of the way.
Chupsin turned to find his calendar. The schedule was a study in his very
exacting personality. "What days are best?"
"How about early next sevenday? I don't have much on my schedule for
then yet and I'm less likely to forget if I do it early in the sevenday," Wirnan replied.
"Allright, we'll say the second day of the sevenday first thing in the morning to get it over with." He penciled in the steward's name.
