Description: The bronzerider stops by to visit the Weyrwoman, but isn't interested in her advances
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 1, day 7 of Turn 6
Notes: J'ren had to admit he was curious. He had heard about the hullabaloo over
at Dolphin Cove and had refrained from going over there a little bit. But
that curiousity tugged and pulled and finally, he decided he'd make a trip,
just to see Janani. Maybe he'd find out a little more about what had
happened. Maybe not, but hey, a trip to Dolphin Cove was usually pleasant
and it was a rest day, so it wasn't like it had to worry about
drills and other responsibilities. So it wasn't long after breakfast that
his bronze broke through /between/ and the two made for a landing in the
bowl.
}:Kenaranth comes.:{ Angdelouth hailed Janani. **Kenaranth?** She questioned
her queen, surprised to hear that one of her fellows from River Bluff had
come to see her.
}:His wishes to speak to you.:{
With a shrug she rose and made her way out towards the bowl where the
bronzerider and his dragon waited.
"Go day to you. Angdelouth said you wished to speak to me. I must say this
is a pleasant surprise. I haven't seen you since before I left River Bluff,
J'ren."
"Ah, hail and well met, Weyrwoman Janani." J'ren offered to take Janani's
hand and plant a gentle kiss on it. It was strange having that title in
front of her name, but not necessarily unpleasant. "A pleasure to see you
again. I just wanted to visit the newest Weyrwoman on Pern and offer her my
congratulations. I hope I am not imposing. I must say there is a sense of
pride having her come from River Bluff."
}:I believe you forgot something.:{
**Hush, no mentioning that to her dragon. If she wish to tell me anything,
she will. If not, my curiousity will go unsatisfied.** For now.
"Thank you," she told him, accepting his kiss and congratulations. "Why
don't you come up and join me in my weyr. We can catch up a bit. It's good
to see a familiar face."
"I would enjoy that." J'ren straightened, his grin widening. He clasped
his hands behind him as he allowed the woman to lead him onward. "I hope
they have been treating you well here. I've asked about you. I had thought
that you might return but with your new position I see that is...well,
extremely unlikely now."
"Yes, I do not believe I'll be returning to River Bluff," she said as she
led the way to her private chambers. "Some klah and pastries for you?"
Janani moved the tray onto the table in her sitting area. "So tell me how
have things been at my old home?"
He'd had breakfast, but J'ren wasn't one to refuse treats. "That sounds
great." He drew up so that he was alongside of her, smiling down at her.
"A shame. River Bluff has really lost something. But things have been
fine. Zharesti is gone and Rhosyn, she's quite the cracker. I actually
like her."
"Yes, I met her after I came here. I cannot say I'm sorry that Zharesti is
gone. She's the main reason I'm here." Janani turned her smiled onto the
bronzerider. Her finger reaching up to touch his shoulder. "And you, J'ren?
What of you? Are you otherwise engaged at the moment?" He'd always been a
nice piece of eye candy for her and she had wanted to go further, but it
just had always seemed the wrong time.
"Engaged?" J'ren arched an eyebrow as he reached down to pluck one of the
pastries from the tray. "Not really." There was a rueful smile and his
eyes moved away from hers as he took a bite. "Just keeping busy. Drills.
Threadfall." Goldriders jumping him in the hallway. Shards he wished she
would do that again.
"No one has captured your interest of late, J'ren," she said, her voice a
bit husky. "Did you come here just to talk to me or did you have something
else in mind?" Her fingertips glided across his chest as her smile said
exactly what she was thinking.
"I had someone of interest." J'ren's expression darkened and he shook her
head. "But that's over now." And Rhosyn seemed content with a romp. He
supposed he'd just have to deal with that. The feel of her fingers against
his chest made him look down at them, watching them a moment before lifting
to look into her eyes. "I honestly just came to see how you're doing. But
perhaps _you_ have something else in mind."
She chuckled, "J'ren, you should know by now that I _always_ have something
else in mind!" Janani settled back into her seat as she eyed the
bronzerider. "I thought perhaps you felt it too, over the turns, but then
again, you were often occupied elsewhere."
J'ren ripped a bit of the pastry before allowing himself to take a seat as
well. "How could one not feel it, Janani? You're a beautiful woman. And
intelligent. It's a rather alluring combination."
She liked his praise. It made her feel just as special as she knew she was.
"Perhaps one of these days you'll show me that you think I'm worth having,
eh, J'ren?" She raised her brows to him almost daring him to make the first
move.
"Oh I knew long ago that you were worth having." J'ren assured her as he
finished off the pastry and brushed the crumbs from his tunic. "But when I
dedicate myself to someone, I dedicate myself to someone." Not that that
had meant much to _her_, obviously, since she had left with their children.
"I'm not looking for dedication, J'ren," she replied, "but I do enjoy a nice
spot of fun every now and again. Would you care to see what fun we can have
if you join me?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him.
Oh she was taunting him. But she was a delicious sight, smooth and silky in
all the right places. And tempting. J'ren's fingers tapped against the
arms of his chair. He honestly hadn't come for that. But...if she was
offering. "I might be persuaded."
"And what might I need to do to persuade you, eh,?" She smiled coyly at him.
Janani had always wanted to chance to enjoy his company, but his commitment
to others had kept him out of her reach. She enjoyed all the men she spent
time with and it was almost like a badge of honor the more she found herself
with, not that she was really counting of course.
"I think it might take a lot of persuasion, to be honest." J'ren leaned
forward to procure a drink from the tray. "But you're welcome to try."
"Hmm," she murmured, "so having a goldrider nearly invite you to her bed
isn't enough persuasion for you? Perhaps I misjudged you J'ren. So, tell me
instead about the goings on. How do you like the new Weyrwoman, Rhosyn?"
Janani wasn't going to beg him to join her. If her invitation wasn't enough,
then she would let the matter drop. She had plenty of other willing partners
that she had no reason to resort to convincing him she was a prize worth
having. _She_ already knew that. Too bad he seemed not to.
"I do not deny that it is tempting." His eyes lingered over her form as he
took a particularly long sip of his juice. "Very tempting. Rhosyn, I like
her. I think she's a good Weyrwoman." There was no pretense. She was
feisty and strong but not so overbearing like Zharesti - which the Weyr had
_not_ needed! "I think you'd like her."
"We met, albeit briefly, but we did meet. And I have to admit, I _do_ like
her." Janani couldn't fault the other Weyrwoman her dalliances, she had no
claim to N'vanik herself so if he wanted to make his bed with all the
goldriders who was she to step in. She would simply find her own enjoyment
as often as she desired with whomever she desired. It left her much freer
than having a Weyrleader who expected her to be at his beck and call all the
time.
"You should spend more time with her." J'ren plucked another pastry from
the tray and munched on it. "Though I guess distance and eggs will make
that difficult. Still, I think she's worth talking to on occasion." **And
more.**
"I'll keep that in mind J'ren," Janani replied with a nod. She intended to
keep in touch with the other Weyrwomen. They had developed a tentative bond
between them and with all three Weyrs under more recent management there was
much option for opening up discussions between them if the need ever arose.
"Is there anything else you needed while you were here, J'ren?" She asked.
"Just the pleasure of your lovely company." J'ren wasn't going to fall into
her arms, but he didn't mind spending time with her. Or looking at her.
"Perhaps we could have lunch together later? Maybe you can show me around
the Weyr."
She gave him a slow, friendly smile. "Well, I can't deny myself some
enjoyable company for the day." She continued to chat with J'ren for awhile,
laughing, talking and simply enjoying his company for the day.
