Aileyan made sure that J'nev had plenty of headstart before she left the
mating cot. Her mind was in turmoil. Kjarliheth was still asleep,
radiating satisfaction the traitor. Some of his accusations had cut her
deep. Did she really thing high of herself?... No, quite the opposite.
She thought she wasn't worthy of them. She had been and still was quite
shy, which made her reticient and gave the impression of being aloof or
indifferent. Some of his words had been almost same her mother used to
wear. "You're nothing, just a piece of thrash." It wasn't like she had
let U'kaiah bed her right away. Shards, she had been his wing for two
Turns before they end up together.
Wandering around aimlessly, mind occupied, she found herself staring the
all too familiar door. Her legs, those traitors, had taken her here
without thinking. She didn't really know where else to go. Her empty
weyr felt too lonely, she was not in a right mood to be around Ravyan...
She just stared the door. He probably had a company, she knew, he
certainly had a company, after loosing a Mating Flight.
The bronzerider had fallen into the arms of one of the waiting girls in
the circle, but left her rooms soon after. She had just stopped by the
circle to take the edge off a stressful day, but had plans later that
afternoon. He didn't really mind. U'kaiah had made his way back to his
room and took a few moments to soak in the tub and clean himself. It
was still early enough in the day he could try to make it back for at
least part of drills. He wasn't expected, but it was probably the right
thing to do as Wingleader. His Second was capable enough, he knew, and
Kalamath was exhausted. But he could at least watch from the ground and
take note of any gaps. At least he wouldn't be wasting the day that
way.
U'kaiah ran his fingers through his hair and grabbed his jacket before
throwing open the door. He nearly dropped it again, visibly startled
when an unexpected pair of eyes were on the other side just looking at
him. "Faranth's egg!" he cried, taking a step back. It took a moment
to register just who it was. "Aileyan?"
"U'kaiah," she nearly broke in to tears at this point. He just seemed to
be the only man who understood her.
It was almost painful to see that expression on her face. Oh shards,
the Flight... "Are you hurt?"
"Just emotionally. J'nev however, does have a red handprint on his
face," she replied vehemently.
"J'nev." That little bastard. "What happened? Are you all right?" He
moved to side, silently inviting her inside.
"He's a sexistic little jerk who only has a one use for a woman," she
fumed.
That didn't really surprise U'kaiah. But he hadn't been there, and she
was offering few clues as to what exactly had passed between them, so he
thought it best not to comment. "Do you want a drink?"
Aileyan nodded and went to conquer U'kaiah's sofa. She folded her legs
beneath her. "You can say I left my imprint on him," she smirked.
"It sounds like he deserved it." He opened his well stocked cupboard.
"What are you in the mood for? Wine? Or something harder?"
"Harder," she rubbed her face. "He called me canine. Am I really such a
terrible person?" her voice was small and vunerable.
U'kaiah stopped mid-pour and looked at her over his shoulder. "He
called you _what_?" Canine? Just what in Faranth's name happened in
there? "Why would he do that?"
"I wasn't interested in his company after we came around," Aileyan said,
twisting her hair in her fingers.
"It's your right to refuse him." Did he really think that just because
his dragon won he had some sort of right to seconds? That was no way to
treat a greenrider after a Flight! "I have half a mind to talk to that
little tunnelsnake."
Aileyan shook her head. "He'll probably blame me for it. He's jealous,"
she said.
Still, U'kaiah hated just letting it go. It was obvious he had upset
her deeply, and for that the bronzerider wanted to strip the little turd
naked and throw him in a patch of saw grass. "What _can_ I do?"
"Hold me please," she asked, know it was a bad idea, but yearning so
badly for a humans touch she didn't care. She had enough dragonlust left
in her blood that it wouldn't stay in just a touch.
He was more than willing to do just that. U'kaiah pulled her close,
wrapping his long arms around her protectively. "Don't believe anything
he said to you, you hear? He's nothing more than a poisonous little
Thread."
She nodded and wrapped her arms around his middle. "The good thing about
you is that you _listen_," she murmured.
"I'll always listen to you," he promised softly as he rested his chin on
the top of her head.
"You're too good to be true," she said with a little helpless laugh. She
wrapped her arms around his waist and leaned against his chest. Shards,
he smelled good. And her body could remember how good he touched too.
He snorted softly, thinking she was just trying to tease him. His mind,
however was still going over all the things he could do to the little
brat. As his Wingleader, U'kaiah knew he could do a lot. Restday
watches, tedious sweeprides, transport duty to the back of /between/...
He knew he shouldn't, but he wanted to do something more than just sit
there. U'kaiah was a man of action, and he just wanted to _fix_ this
somehow. It was frustrating to feel so useless.
Aileyan's mind was going to whole different direction and her hands were
boldly starting to explore his body.
U'kaiah quickly realized what she was doing, and could guess at least
part of the reason why knowing her Flight had finished no so long
before. If this was what she really wanted right now, he wanted her to
know he was more than willing. He would not think about their past or
their future. The bronzerider was very good at living in the moment,
and he had finally found something he could do for her. He gently lifted
her chin and touched his lips softly to hers. It was up to her to take
him up on the offer or not.
Aileyan took it up.
