Description: Roana and J'klin have a talk about where they stand
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 12, day 22 of Turn 5
Notes: Part 1 of 2
Roana made her way back to J'klin's side, curling an arm around the
brownrider's waist. The wing party he'd found for them to go to had
turned out to be a good sized gathering and she'd met quite a few new
people. At this point though, it was after midnight and she was about
ready to head back to her weyr and get some sleep, and if she had her
way, J'klin would be going with her so she'd have someone warm and
cuddly in with her.
J'klin wrapped an arm easily about Roana's shoulders, glad at how
comfortable they had gotten with one another. Gone were the early
miscommunications and hurt feelings of when she had first transferred
to River Bluff, replaced by the affectionate banter that they had once
possessed. They had still continued taking things slow, minus the
occasional overnight visit from Roana when she'd spend the night
curled up beside him. J'klin felt good about things. He was finally
getting his life straightened out, and he was genuinely happy for
once. He nuzzled her hair softly, before whispering in her ear, "You
want to call it an early night, and head back to one of our weyrs?"
"It's after midnight, I don't think this counts as an early night,"
Roana murmured, "But yes, let's get out of here. I've had enough
socializing for the moment." Stifling a yawn, she laid her head on his
shoulder for the walk back. "My weyr is closer, I think." And he
hadn't stayed with her yet, she'd always ended up crawling in to sleep
with him.
"Alright, just so long as you promise that your bed is as comfortable
as mine is," J'klin responded, yawning. "Shards, Roana, you've gone
and made me all yawny," he said, as they walked to her weyr. "So when
I let you sleep over, you borrow my tunics. Does this mean that I can
borrow your tunic to sleep in tonight?"
Her laugh was soft and husky, "You and I both know you'd never get
those shoulders into one of my tunics. However, I happen to have one
of yours that I... borrowed. You can wear it, which works out, because
then it'll smell like you again."
J'klin gasped in surprise, backing away from Roana, and turning about
to face her. "You dirty thief! Stealing my clothes already? What will
it be next, ma'am, my trousers? My underthings?" He laughed, tickling
her a bit as he continued to list things that she might attempt to
steal.
"It was just the one tunic! And it wasn't even intentional, it was
from that morning I overslept and didn't have time to change back into
my clothes before I ran back to my place to get ready for drills,"
Roana protested, squirming away from his fingers.
J'klin sighed mock dramatically, pushing Roana back into the wall of
the corridor. "Oh, ok, well if that's the case..." he said, his head
resting on hers. His eyes gleamed mischievously at her, and he waggled
his eyebrows quickly. "Why is your weyr so far away?" he asked, his
voice low and intense.
"Because that's just where my weyr is! Why are you so impatient to get
there? Have big plans or something?" She had a feeling she knew where
this was leading, but she didn't want to say it and be wrong... And
she also didn't know whether she was ready to move their relationship
to that next step just yet.
J'klin backed off a bit so he could get a better look at Roana, "Not
plans, really, no. It's just... uh... you're really beautiful tonight;
and _no_ I am not just saying that to get in your pants. They are
really quite a bit too small for me," he said, grinning. "Seriously,
though, I just want some private time with you," he explained.
Roana sighed and leaned in to rest her forehead against his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound so... accusing. I just
don't want you to get the wrong idea." Curling her arm through his,
she tugged him back into motion, headed for her weyr again.
"You're fine," he said. "You know I don't want to push you." He
wrapped his arm around her shoulders again, as they walked towards her
weyr. "So, did you enjoy the get together?" he asked her curiously.
"You seemed to get some mingling in."
"I did - it felt good finally meeting some new people here." After a
few minutes they reached her door, and Roana glanced up at him, her
arm still curved around his waist. "Still want to stay with me
tonight?"
"Of course," J'klin said, leaning down to kiss her softly on the lips.
"Nothing would make me happier. Besides, I haven't even really seen
the inside of your weyr since the day you moved, you always come see
me. I'm curious to see what you did with the place," he said with a
wink.
"It feels more like home than it did, at least." She'd claimed
furniture from the Headwoman, along with some linens and more
decorative things. Leading him inside, she stripped her jacket off and
hung it on the pegs inside the door. Now that they were behind closed
doors, she was more comfortable. With a hand hooked in his tunic, she
pulled him down for another kiss, teasingly brushing her tongue
against his lips.
J'klin moaned softly, glad that he had not been drinking that night
because it took every ounce of willpower that he had not to carry her
to her bed right then and there. Instead, he pulled her close to him,
nearly crushing her with the force of his embrace.
She broke away from his lips, even though there was no way for her to
escape the snug hold he had around her body. Breathless, Roana sighed,
"I wish we could do more of that and not have things get out of hand."
J'klin forced himself to gain control once more, taking deep breaths
to steady himself. "I agree wholeheartedly," he said. "Shards, Roana,
how many turns were we friends, and never realized that there should
have been more?" he asked. Perhaps he could have saved himself a lot
of hurt and depression if he would have realized this sooner.
"Nine," She frowned. "But at least we realized it now." Backing up,
Roana slowly herded him toward the couch since he didn't seem in any
hurry to let her go. A mischievous smile spread over her face,
"Shardit, I really want to pin you on that couch and make out like a
couple of horny teenagers. How sad is that?"
"I don't think that's sad at all. I think that's a fantastic idea in
fact," J'klin said. "You know, you saying things like that doesn't
make it very easy to restrain myself from carrying you into the
bedroom and ravishing you, right?" He asked, as he followed her over
to the couch like an obedient canine puppy.
Roana laughed softly, "I know, I know, it's tempting. But I don't want
to jump into this too fast. You have things you're dealing with, and
I'm still settling in here." Once he got settled on the couch, she
curled into his lap, leaning her head on his shoulder. Taking in a
deep breath, she debated with herself.
J'klin wrapped his arms about her, and ran his fingers through his
hair, content to just enjoy the moment. "I know, I don't want to rush
you either sweety, and I am sorry if I seem like I am," he said
softly, kissing her forehead. "I just don't want to make the earlier
mistake of seeming disinterested either."
"No, I didn't mean it that way. I meant not getting quite so far as
falling into bed right away." Roana leaned up to kiss him again.
"Let's make a deal, no hands under the clothes, but other than
that..." It had been over a month and she was ready to do at least a
little more.
"Hmmm," J'klin said, considering the deal. "So no hands under the
clothes, but what about other extremities?" He asked, wanting to know
his limitations. He wagged his eyebrows at her teasingly.
"Nothing of yours should be under my clothes!" She nearly sighed.
"C'mon, J'klin, take the deal and just kiss me."
"Oh, alright, if you insist!" J'klin said with a grin, before doing as
he was told. He kissed her, with all of the passion and intensity that
he'd managed to keep bottled up the entire night.
_Finally_, Roana thought to herself. Sinking into the kiss, her body
melted into his. She hadn't said anything, but it was also a measure
of how much he wanted her, if he was willing to settle for this until
she was ready to move past this stage. Some men would quickly grow
tired of such things and move on.
