K'sedel

Rhosyn walked along with K'sedel and K'reyel. Her head went from left to right, trying to say hello to those she spotted who had knots worth mentioning. She was afraid of getting lost in the crowds and she had never been to Dolphin Cove. "They had a good turnout," she remarked. Feeling quite safe, she was glad there was a bronzerider in front and behind her to save her bumbling self in case she tripped over the hemline of her new gown.

"It looks that way," replied K'sedel. "I believe my granddaughter is out there, ready to take her turn on the sands today."

"Oh? Well clear skies to her then. There looks to be plenty of eggs-a good clutch. How many turns has she then?" Seeing the row of stands that seemed to be saved for them, she pointed. "I think that's us."

"She's thirteen," said K'reyel. "Same age as my Reyela, same need to take her chance on the sands too."

"We'll be having a clutch soon too I hope." Having eggs on the Sands had a calming effect on Rhosyn. Something about future dragons to replenish the wings.. "Look!" One of the eggs was shaking, she was positive. Pushing, she got into her seat.

K'sedel sat next to her. "A bronze for luck?" he suggested.

"Too easy. Ten to one it's a brown." She raised a brow at him, giving a suggestive look to accompany her wager.

"So you'll put a 32nd of a mark on it then? I'm sure K'reyel will hold the marks for us."

"Sure will." She fished one out of her beltpouch that was attached to the hipgirdle she was wearing.

"Father?" K'reyel held out his hand as he watched the Weyrwoman reach for her marks.

"Here you go," K'sedel reached into a pocket and located a coin by touch, pulling it out and checking it before handing it to his son.

Rhosyn handed over her piece and sat back, eager to watch the new dragonets enter the world. It always made her proud that her dragon could do what not many could. Orlaith's eggs were important to keep Pern safe. "So what do you think of N'vanik?" Different Weyrleaders had different styles and she wondered about the younger bronzerider.

"He's got a good head on his shoulders, bit new to the role, but he's growing into it," was K'sedel's comment.

Sipping her wine, Rhosyn sat back and watched the spectacle, content to simply be there for the moment. For all riders, a Hatching was a very special event. It was a time when they remembered their own Impressions and saw new ones made.

**Always**

"Is that the next egg rocking?" K'reyel pointed.

"There's already one cracked over there..." As she spoke, it seemed things picked up. She could feel Orlaith's humming in her head as the queen welcomed the small ones into the world.

A tiny blue found a young lad who bore a resemblance to the Weyrwoman's second. "Is that Jyramikah's son?" asked K'sedel.

"Orlaith says yes," Rhosyn replied quickly. She herself had no children, though it wasn't a priority for her. She wouldn't be able to raise them if she had. "They're doing well. No injuries."

K'reyel watched a small figure leave the sands alone. "Poor Rondera," he said.

"Pay up, bronzerider." Rhosyn smiled sweetly, her hand stretched out.

"It does look like you won." K'sedel gestured to his son. "The lady needs her winnings."

"Perhaps her egg will be there next time." Not everyone managed it the first go-round.

"If she's lucky, next time. Might be better that she's a bit older," K'sedel said as he watched the forlorn look on his granddaughter's face.

"Aye it might be. Do you want to go down there and give her a hug?" She was itching to get out of her seat by this point. The excitement of Impression coupled with the fact that she needed to use the necessary was making Rhosyn jumpy.

"I think she might need it," K'reyel told his father as he got to his feet to allow the lady to pass.

Rhosyn made her way into the aisle. "I'm just going to use the necessary. I'll see you around at the feast tables I'm sure." She was their ride so she knew they'd find her.

"You will," K'sedel said.
