Description: Qorri brings N'vanik a surprise for his birthingday.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 22 of Turn 5
It wasn't often that she got to make someone feel special and for all
she N'vanik did, she thought he deserved something especially since it
was more than likely that everyone else would forget, maybe even him.
Walking through the Weyr, she had a bundle in her hands that was
carefully wrapped. Inside were a few things to make him happy, or so
she hoped. Besides a few sweetcakes and cookies, she had managed to
make him a bridie with bacon, cheese, and some other tasty things.
Coming to his door, she knocked once, waiting.
N'vanik opened the door. "Oh, hey Qorri. Need something?"
"I just wanted to give you this." She offered the parcel forward.
He took it from her. "What is it?" He could smell food in the bundle,
but he didn't know why Qorri would be giving him food.
"A few things." She almost laughed at his reaction. Did he not trust her?
"From me and the Weyr, happy birthingday, Weyrleader."
"Birthingday ..." He'd forgotten what day it was. N'vanik laughed. "I
suppose you would know, wouldn't you? You have access to all the
records."
"Oh I know everything," she gave a wink, then smiled. "You'd better eat
before it gets cold. I didn't bring a beverage since I thought you'd have
some wine stashed somewhere."
Wine and other things. "Thanks. This is ... it's really nice." And
unexpected. He tended to forget his own birthingday and he hadn't
expected anyone, especially someone like Qorri who barely knew him, to
bring him a gift.
"I know you work just as hard as I do and sometimes it's good to know
someone appreciates you." Frowning, she pushed at him. "Go and enjoy
before it isn't hot anymore."
"Alright, alright!" He turned and went back inside.

Later that day, he was on his way down to the dining hall and he ran
into Qorri. "Hey, thanks again for the food."
"No problem. I just hope you enjoyed it." She nodded and passed something
off to a nearby drudge. "Any plans?"
"Well I kinda forgot it was my birthingday, so I didn't make any plans."
"That's a shame. Forgot your own birthingday!" She gave a small tsk tsk noise
with her mouth.
N'vanik shrugged. "I've never been very good at remembering it." His
father certainly hadn't made an effort to celebrate it when he was
young, so it was easy to forget.
"I think if there's one day to be spoiled, it's that one." Qorri worked hard
for all the other days of the turn. She wanted just one for her.
"I'll make up for it on the restday. I wouldn't miss a chance to spoil
myself." He was already thinking about where he could go.
"Good cause you deserve it with all the work you do." She nodded and
looked over at one of the tables, waving a drudge to do refills.
N'vanik chuckled. "I avoid work as much as I can, but I'll take that
as a compliment. I'll let you get back to your work."
"Always something to do. Good day to you then Weyrleader. I'm
sure I'll have something to ask you about at some point." Inwardly,
Qorri was thinking he looked good for his turns.
