Date: month 8, day 22 of Turn 5
Notes: Notes: This post follows DCW: A Harmonious Meeting.

Shawnyta yawned and rolled her shoulders a little before taking a sip
of her wine. She looked over at D'cal and smiled. After their bath,
they had gotten food from the dining cavern and had ended up in his
weyr. The more they talked, she was finding that she was really
attracted to the bluerider. Not only that, she found herself able to
relax around him in a way that she'd not been able to since her last
lover.

"I'm sorry, am I talking too much?" he asked, having noticed her yawn.
It was a little rare for him to do so much talking. Usually he just
liked listening while other people talked.

"No, not at all. It's just been a long, busy day." She'd been up
before dawn, helping to prepare the infirmary for Threadfall. "And I'm
not even that tired, I'm just finally relaxing, and to tell you the
truth, really enjoying your company."

He was enjoying being with her, too. D'cal couldn't remember the last
time he had felt so comfortable around someone so quickly. It had to
have been Dyaera. Or Zanie. Both, it seemed, were a lifetime ago.
"Are your shoulders hurting?" he asked, changing the subject before he
embarrassed himself.

"A little, but it's not too bad. Nothing that a little numbweed and a
good nights sleep won't fix, anyways." She smiled and winked at him,
"Or that a shoulder rub wouldn't fix, if you feel up to it?"

"Well, I was thinking that I owed you one." After all, whatever her
hands had been doing on his back in the bathing pool had felt incredibly
good and relaxing. "Turn around."

Shawnyta complied, turning her back to him and bringing her thick
braid over her shoulder, out of his way. "I really appreciate it. You
must be tired and sore yourself."

"Actually, I'm feeling pretty good." Which could be due to either the
wine or the company, he thought. His fingertips rested gently on the
top of her shoulder muscles as his thumb slowly moved up her spine with
first gentle and then stronger pressure.

She sighed with pleasure and arched into his hands. "That feels
wonderful." She briefly wondered if he'd be open to spending the night
together.

"I had a friend who would get stiff muscles a lot, so I had a lot of
practice." But he really didn't want to talk about Dyaera. "Why did
you become a healer?"

"It seems that I've always wanted to be a healer. I prefer healing
dragons, but the human kind of healing is just as rewarding. If I
Impress, perhaps I'll go into dragonhealing, but for now, I'm happy
where I am." She moaned softly as his fingers found a knot. "What
about you? Did you always dream of being a dragonrider?"

"No," he chuckled, though his fingers stopped over the spot to give the
knot a bit more attention. "I thought I'd be a shipbuilder forever.
That's what my family did. The hurricane changed everything, though."

She nodded, "The hurricane changed everything for a lot of people. I'm
just glad that your family made it through okay."

"Yeah, me too." His voice trailed of thoughtfully as he continued to
work.

She really did like him, he was handsome and intelligent, but more
than that, he was comfortable to be around. She knew he wasn't
weyrbred, so she had the feeling that simply pouncing on him would not
be a good thing. Shawnyta turned slightly in his arms to face him,
gently putting one of her hands on his chest, "D'cal," she said
softly, looking into his eyes, "would you mind if I kissed you?"

D'cal may not have been Weyrbred, but he had become accustomed over the
last few Turns to forward girls. In fact, he really liked that in a
woman. "Only if I can kiss you back."

"Please," she breathed, leaning forward and kissing him lightly, her
lips lingering on his, waiting for a sign to take the kiss further.

His hand slipped from her back down to her waist, pulling her closer
against him as gently pressed his lips to hers. Even those teasing
little kisses were starting to make him feel a little light headed.
Shards, it had been a while. He pulled back ever so slightly. Her
breath tickled his chin as his lips parted in invitation.

She took the invitation for what it was and slid her tongue along his
parted lips before deepening the kiss as she pressed her body fully
against his.

D'cal's fingers wrapped around her thigh, his fingers digging into her
muscle ever slow slightly as his tongue slid along hers. His mind was
racing almost as fast as his blood through his veins. He didn't usually
go this fast. At least, not with a girl he liked. And he did really
like Shawnyta. Not only was she a flaming fine kisser, but he had
enjoyed talking to her, laughing with her... And if he didn't stop
thinking about those little peeks of her body in the bathing pool, he
was going to have to start thinking about flight formations again!

She moved back from him slightly with dazed eyes, breathing heavily.
She couldn't come up with a single thing to say, so she nipped lightly
at his lower lip and covered his hand on her thigh with her own, not
stopping him, but letting him know she didn't mind if he continued.

He chuckled softly as he looked down into her blue-grey eyes. They were
added to the growing list of things he liked about this girl. "You
know, I didn't imagine this when I woke up this morning."

She grinned up at him, noticing, not for the first time, how handsome
he was. She could drown in his olive gaze if he would give her the
chance. "Neither did I, but then, this morning, all I could think
about was the infirmary and if I had enough supplies to get through
'Fall."

"You must be exhausted," he whispered, though his eyes traveled down to
her parted lips and his thumb caressed the inside of the thigh.

"Not really. I'm enjoying myself with you." And it was the truth.
While she'd thought herself tired when she'd slipped into the bathing
pool, she'd somehow found a new energy after she'd met D'cal. "You? I
know you flew 'Fall today. That's got to be exhausting."

"I suppose..." And yet he didn't want the night to end. Not yet.
"But, I don't really feel like sleeping."

She nipped at his lip again before brushing a light kiss across them.
"What _do_ you feel like doing?"

"Well, it starts with more of this," he murmured before catching her
lips with his own.

She really didn't think that there was anything more to be said in
words for the moment, so she let her body speak for itself.
