"My cast itches!" Sorsha stuck the small stick down the side of the cast in order to relieve the worst of the tickling. It was so frustrating to have the thing on.
"I wish I could do something to help." Ri'len hated his inability to fix her problem, but a broken bone and subsequent itching because of the cast weren't anything he could mend. It was almost as frustrating to him as her itching was to Sorsha. "Is there anything the healers can do about it?"
She held up the stick. "This is there solution. Scratch until the cast comes off. I shouldn't complain though, It'll be off soon enough, and there are worse people off in the infirmary."
"That's their only suggestion?" Ri'len couldn't help but be a bit amused. "Quite advanced breakthrough, a stick. I'd offer to scratch, but I have a feeling I'd just hit all the wrong places. And yes, I'm very glad you aren't as bad off as some in the infirmary."
"As long as _you_ don't end up in the infirmary." Sorsha said seriously. "You have to promise to be careful at Threadfall tomorrow. No showing off your first time out there."
"I will be. I want to be here for you and Roseth, I don't plan on taking any unnecessary risks." The thought of Threadfall made Ri'len want to hide in a cave somewhere, but he knew he couldn't. He was a dragonrider, and he had to help protect others who couldn't protect themselves from their age old menace. "You be careful as you finish your training. I don't want you to get hurt again."
Sorsha rolled her eyes. "Whenever that might be. The healers still haven't said when I can get this cast off. Not that I'm really looking forward to classes by myself."
"Maybe you can help the Weyrlingmaster with the newer Weyrlings." It might give Sorsha as sense of purpose. There were some things she could still do even with the cast, and Ri'len though she might be a good assistant. "It will keep you busy."
"He hasn't had me yet." Sorsha replied. "I think between the studies and the infirmary he's got me quite busy."
"Not too busy I hope." There wasn't much seriousness in his voice. While their schedule had always been quite busy, T'kob had always made sure they had time to relax as well.
Sorsha reached out for her husband. "Not too busy for you. Why don't you come here and make me forget about my itchy arm?"
Ri'len did as Sorsha asked and drew her close. He was careful about her arm, not wanting to put any pressure on it, so angled her against him so it wouldn't be trapped. "Shall I scratch your itch?"
"Yes, please." she replied with a giggle.
