"Sitting here all by yourself, Wingleader?" Aileyan asked softly. She was feeling quite nervous. She didn't usually approach men. She waited them to come to her. But she was also feeling sad and lonely and U'kaiah had shown an interest towards her. Perhaps rumpling some bedfurs would help her forget Ednan.

U'kaiah had been staring off into the flames of the fire that had been lit in the common room. He looked up at the sound of her voice, rather surprised to have his thoughts interrupted, but not unpleasantly so. "I am," he nodded, waving over towards one of the other large arm chairs that were placed close enough to the heat for the occupant to enjoy it's warmth. "Feel free to keep me company if you like."

"Thanks, I just might do that," Aileyan replied and tried to keep the nervousness out from her voice.

The bronzerider leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "So what brings you up here this evening? Your weyr feeling a little cold?"

"Perhaps," she admitted.

His eyes turned back towards the fire as he leaned back in his arm chair. "Those winds can really send a draft off of those ledges, can't they? Thank Faranth our lifemates don't seem to feel the cold. My weyr's too small for the both of us."

"I sometimes envy their ability to be oblivious to the weather," Aileyan said and held out her arms towards the fire. Of course, when she did that, they brushed against him.

U'kaiah looked at her out of the corner of his eye, not sure if the brush had been intentional or not. "Do you need me to move over?"

What she really wanted was him to wrap his arms around her, but she just didn't get it out from her mounth. Instead she bit her lip and blushed.

She was certainly acting strange. "Are you all right?"

"I'm trying to do something I'm not used to, and it's not going well," she sighed. Perhaps she should just jump on him, like she had done with Ednan. "How do you do it? So smoothly swoosh woman off her feet?" she asked. Maybe he could tell her tips.

"I assume you asking me if I can give you pointers on how to proposition a man?" As a greenrider, he was pretty certain she wasn't interested in knowing how to seduce other women. "Is that why you walked over, Aileyan? You want to sweep me off my feet?"

"Something like that. Not doing well, am I?" She replied with wry smile.

He could tell this was not something that she was accustomed to, which he found both flattering and surprising. After all, she had to be at least one child, and had a rising green. "Well, perhaps you could start with sitting a little closer," he suggesting, inclining his head towards his lap.

"All right," she said and got up, moving over to him. "Is this close enough," she asked when she sat on his lap.

"Almost," he said with a wiggle of his eyebrows before his face grew a little more serious. "But Aileyan, I know you have refused me before. I'm glad you've changed your mind, and I don't need to know what is behind the sudden change, but I do want you to understand that I can't offer you anything but tonight."

"I'm not expecting anything beyond that," Aileyan replied. "Honestly, that's why I picked out you."

"It was a safe bet," he nodded, running his fingers along the outside of her thigh. U'kaiah had certainly more than earned his reputation. "Well, I'm honored all the same. I know how choosy you can be."

"You should be, I don't generally throw myself on men. You should take advantage of it now, for tomorrow I might have a different mood altogether," she replied and wrinkled her cute little nose playfully.

"Maybe tomorrow I'll find true love and tonight is _your_ only chance to satisfy curiosity," he said, a smile twitching at his lips as he too began to get into a playful mood. His fingers reached up to trace lightly along the opening of her tunic. "We better make the most of this opportunity. Who knows if it will ever come again."

"Aye," Aileyan agreed and buried her fingers into his hair.

He hooked his finger over the first tie of her tunic and pulled her closer. "All right then, greenrider. Show me how you intend to sweep me off my feet."

"You may be surprised," Aileyan said with a wicked little smile and positioned herself better on his lap.

"I think I can handle it," he said with a challenging lift of his eyebrow, his hands adjusting to her support her.
