F'gol stared at the intricate design on the outside of Meledei's door. It must have been made for one of the former residents because he didn't quite see Meledei requesting such a lavish accessory. Still, it was interesting, and he wondered why he'd never noticed it before. Probably because he'd never bothered to stand in front of it long enough. He hadn't knocked, or asked Tealth to relay his request to enter, he'd just stood there. He realized he was afraid of her rejecting him, of sending him away, and that fear finally made him give a swift strong knock to the designed door; he wasn't afraid of anything.

There was a moment before it opened, a thud inside, perhaps her knocking over something, into something, or maybe jumping down from something. "Coming!" Came the muffled sound of her voice, deepened odd blur, then clearer as she opened the door, taking away the barrier. "Yes?" She fairly froze when Meledei saw who it was. Her gaze didn't fall upon the flowers that he clutched in his hand, didn't take note of them at all. Instead they stared at his face, her own features undulating between hurt and confusion. "Oh. Hello."

"It's not too late is it?" He knew it was past curfew, but he'd spent all night thinking things through, and he didn't want to leave things the way they'd left them that afternoon. He didn't want to spend another night curled up with Tealth feeling miserable.

"No. I was still up." What did he want? Meledei was afraid to ask. Was he going to try and explain again? She wasn't sure she could go through that again. "Is...something wrong?"

She hadn't invited him in, but he probably didn't deserve to be. "I thought about what you said. Alot." He felt fear rising in his stomach and he forced it down. Now was the time to be a man. "I wish to court you Meledei. If you'll have me." He held out the small bouquet of flowers he'd picked near the beach and waited.

Maybe she was dreaming. From what F'gol had said she didn't think she'd ever hear those words. She must have heard incorrectly. "I'm sorry...what?"

He flinched slightly, letting the flowers fall to his side. It wasn't like he was expecting all to be forgiven, but he'd let himself hope that maybe this could work. He wasn't going to give up though. "You said it worked for your parents, if you think we could make it work then I want to try."

Meledei glanced down at the flowers, then looked back up at F'gol. She didn't say anything, but stepped to the side, giving him entry to her weyr.

F'gol walked in, still not sure of what she was thinking, but feeling a bit better now that she was allowing him inside. Still, he needed her to understand, to not let her get the wrong idea about things. "I don't want to have sex with you. Not yet anyways. If we're going to do this, it's going to be properly. I want to ask your father for permission."

"O...okay." Meledei still wasn't quite sure she was hearing right. After all that hullabaloo here he was, right there. She sat down on the couch and motioned for him to sit as well. "What...changed your mind?"

"You." he said awkwardly as he sat down. He looked around for a place to put the flowers down but gave up, just holding on to them in his lap. "I realized I was going to lose you and I didn't want that." Not after he'd seen what he wanted. Even if he couldn't have it, he was going to try, he couldn't _not_ try.

Meledei tried to let her hand slip into F'gol's, but the flowers were in the way. Instead, she took them and set them on the table, then allowed her hand to take his. "I'm glad. For a while there I thought I was going to have to care for someone who didn't care back a second time and I wasn't sure what I was going to do."

"Second time?" F'gol was confused.

"Well...a couple of turns ago there was this guy, another crafter." Meledei shrugged. "I cared about him a lot, but he didn't feel the same way about me. It was...not my happiest point in my life. He's since gone elsewhere and moved on."

F'gol didn't want to talk about _another_ guy, though he was sure the man had been crazy to not want to return Meledei's affection. "Well I care okay. You knew I cared. I told you that I did. The question though is will you give this wherry headed blowhard permission to court you properly."

"Of course." Meledei smiled at him, then on impulse, she leaned over and kissed him tenderly on the mouth. "I'm glad you changed your mind."

"Now, now. None of that." F'gol said happily as he jumped up from the couch. He didn't know how things would turn out down the road, but he was extremely glad he was going to get the chance to find out. "I haven't talked to your father yet."

"You mean I can't even kiss you?" Meledei was glad to see his mood improved - her own was muchly so. F'gol was willing to give them a chance. "I guess that means you're not willing to stay the night - no sex, just cuddling?" The girl sighed. "Too bad it's after curfew."

F'gol shook his head, he didn't think his resolve was strong enough to resist her if he was holding her all night. "We've got a month at least right? And they said that golds take longer to rise, and that the males will take a few times before they get the hang of things. I won't make us wait until it's too late, but give me this for a while. Let me live the life I wanted for just a little while."

Meledei nodded, her smile widening. This was the sort of thing she had wanted and here she had a man who wanted that same thing. "I will. I wish you would stay, but I'll wait."
