"So what sort of special training are you and the bronze boys doing this afternoon?" F'gol asked curiously as he snatched an untouched roll off of Meledei's tray. Usually when there were split classes, as it was today as the blues and greens were doing sweepriding, it said so on the chart Meledei herself had made up. Today however, and all this sevenday for that matter, all that was listed for the bronze, brown, and gold was 'specialized training'.
"Well, there are plans to do various things." Meledei had been cautioned not to reveal certain secrets. She didn't understand it, but she wasn't going to tell F'gol about it - not yet. Eventually, perhaps, but...well, not yet. "Today we were working on various...flying techniques." She hated lying. It wasn't fair, such information should be given based upon other factors besides colour - maturity, leadership capabilities and such. F'gol wouldn't abuse such a thing. "What about you guys? What did you work on?"
F'gol was pleased she didn't seem annoyed that he took the roll. She never ate all of her meal anyways. "We're sweepriding. We're getting partners today, so it'll be interesting who I get. Hopefully somebody I know, since there will be alot of the Weyrlingstaff assistants in the mix."
"Who do you hope you get?" Meledei concentrated on her meat, savoring the salty flavor as it flooded her mouth.
He shrugged, popping a piece of roll into his mouth. "Doesn't matter to me. Y'nak or Br'sal would be fun. Rosevi would be okay too." He thought of the assistants that he'd worked with and that had helped out his group during other various drills.
"Rosevi is nice." Meledei took one last bite of her tubers, then moved her plate over to F'gol's and put the rest of her tubers onto his. "I think she has a crush on you."
F'gol rolled his eyes at her comment as he stabbed at the offered tubers. "She likes _everyone_. I don't take it personally."
Meledei couldn't stifle the giggle and covered her mouth with her hand so she wouldn't show or spray her meat all over F'gol. "Yes, but you haven't seen the googly eyes she's made at you. I don't understand her infatuation."
"Ouch, right to the heart Meledei. If I had an ego you'd surely have made a dent in it." he teased in mock reproach.
Meledei pointed her fork right at F'gol. "Just remember that I put up with you and there shouldn't be any dent."
"Oh yes, because having a goldrider deem you worthy of their friendship should be enough of an ego boost." Maybe if she was a more selective goldrider; but she was friends with everyone so it couldn't mean much.
"It has nothing to do with me being a goldrider." Meledei wrinkled her nose and stabbed the last piece of her meat before shoving it into her mouth.
He just laughed. She was always trying to boost him up, to see himself as better than he was. He loved that she tried, but it affect him much. He knew what he was. "If you say so Meledei."
"Don't make me throw something you." Meledei stuck her tongue out at F'gol then pushed aside her plate. "Come on and eat, maybe we can walk around before we have to go to class."
"I'm done." F'gol replied, stuffing one of the last pieces of Meledei's meal in his mouth and standing up. "I was waiting on you."
"You were, were you?" Meledei laughed and stood to make her way to F'gol's side. "Now you have no excuse."
F'gol looked down at Meledei, perplexed. "Excuse for what?"
"Nothing!" Meledei flicked her fingers lightly against F'gol's shoulder. "Race you!" She didn't even wait for a response, she simply turned and ran.
