Meledei looked around the weyr, surprised by the size of it. Granted it wasn't the biggest weyr in Dolphin Cove, but it was certainly bigger than anything she had expected to receive. She reached up and ran a hand along a shelf. There was already some furniture in there, just the barest for needs. If she really wanted to, she could do more with it. For the moment, it would be enough.
"Where do you want this _stuff_?" F'gol asked with a disgusted grunt. While she was wandering aimlessly looking at her new furniture, he was stuck carrying an entire trunkload of belongings. He should have made her carry it all herself!
"Just over in that corner is fine. And thanks." Meledei flashed him with a smile, glad he had offered to help. "I'll help you carry yours into your weyr."
F'gol grunted again as he sat everything down, he didn't have a third of what Meledei had, but he couldn't be annoyed for long, today was exciting as well as nervewracking... they were moving to their own weyrs! He'd never been on his own before, he'd always lived in barracks or stuffed quarters. He'd always had someone to tell him when to go to sleep, when to wake up, to keep his space clean... now it was going to just be him and Tealth.
Meledei moved over to the bed and sat down, bouncing a bit. "It feels so weird." She stated half to herself as she let her gaze roam around her new quarters once again. "We're at the halfway point..."
"Well, almost." He reminded her. They were still junior weyrlings, still had a couple sevendays before their jump /between/ that would make them seniors.
"Yeah, but almost. Almost." Meledei gave him a cocky grin. "Sometimes it seems like it's going by so fast, then other times like it will never end."
F'gol nodded and looked around the large weyr. He'd taken a peek at his already, and you could fit about three of his weyrs into hers. Part of him was disgusted, part of him held a bit of awe. It was so easy to forget in the barracks that Meledei held a higher rank than him, was _better_ than him, but here in her grand weyr it was painfully obvious. He tried to think of something to get his mind to shift thoughts. "So where is Sorsha? I thought she wasn't supposed to leave your side?"
"Well, I'm leaving long enough to do this." Meledei opened her trunk and peered inside. "She's staying in the barracks while Ri'len moves. There didn't seem any point in either one of them having to move twice."
"They're moving in together then? To one weyr?" F'gol had figured the two would since they'd been married and all, but things changed for people once they impressed so he wouldn't have been surprised if they hadn't.
"Yes, they are." Meledei was glad that they had stayed together. Impression sometimes broke people apart and she was glad it hadn't happened to Ri'len and Sorsha. "Doesn't surprise me, really."
F'gol grunted again as he looked around, "Well, you'll have no trouble squeezing in ten room mates if you ever want to. I'll just be lucky if I can keep Tealth dry when it storms. I think they forgot that he was still growing when they assigned us our weyr."
"Are you allowed to request a larger weyr?" It wouldn't do if Tealth couldn't be comfortable in his weyr. "Maybe they gave you a weyr for a green by mistake."
"I'm not a complainer." F'gol replied, miffed that she would think him like a sniveling girl. "It's not that big a deal. Tealth is tough."
"I'm not saying that he isn't." Meledei turned her gaze away from her friend and rummaged through her trunk once more. "Just that he needs a place big enough for him to be comfortable. I don't want him to be uncomfortable."
F'gol headed back towards the door, she'd said she'd help him with his things as well, and he had a lot more stairs to contend with. "If it becomes a problem I'll handle it."
Meledei left the trunk, got to her feet and followed behind her friend. "Well, let's see if we can get you settled. Race you back to the barracks?"
He didn't wait for a count, he just darted forward and laughed.
