Description: K'hetah visits Ylisahn's rooms and finds out from her daughter, Rilisa, how the move to the Dolphin Hall is going.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 12 of Turn 5
K'hetah knocked on the open door of the room that opened straight off the Weyrbowl. "Ylisahn? Wirril?"
"They're not here!" Rilisa called out cheerfully as she peered into one basket, then a second, and finally a third before placing a small bundle into it. It was then she looked up to see who the visitor was. "Hello K'hetah! Come on in. Can you get that bundle over there? Be careful, it's breakable."
"This one?" He picked up the cloth wrapped shape and wondered absently what was within the wrappings. "In this basket?" he asked, lowering it toward the closest as he looked around the room. "This is a nice spot. Different from almost everywhere else in the Weyr."
It wouldn't suit a dragonrider, for there was no weyr for the dragon, but the room itself was lofty and large and even boasted a window. The survey his light-coloured eyes made didn't miss the _reason_ for this being Ylisahn's room; no tunnels. This room was all there was. Nobody could be swept out of there into deep dark tunnels, though (curiously, to his mind), the room itself was a dead end.
There was no reasoning with irrational reactions, he knew, having seen more than a few dragonriders succumb to such things.
"That will work." Rilisa stated and then moved about to pick up a few more bundles and place them into various baskets. "Are you looking for my moms? They've already started toward the Dolphin Hall with the first load. I'm trying to get this stuff packed up before they get back." They weren't moving that fast, she'd be done with time to spare, Rilisa was sure. "Did you need something?"
"How are they getting everything there?" he asked, suspecting that they weren't using dragons for the short walk down the beaches. Still, they ought to have help and he felt vaguely guilty that he had caused this move with his poking into Ylisahn's stress-related problems. "They could have said something. I would have helped."
"Hand carts. Don't worry, we made sure they weren't laden too heavy." Rilisa paused and frowned. Where _was_ that basket? Ah, there it was! She gingerly picked her way over the items still scattered on the floor and tossed her latest bundle in a basket that sat in the corner.
"Do you think your mothers - both of them - are happy about this move?"
"Yes." If anything, Wirril would feel like sanity had returned to the family. "They aren't going that far so it's not like we won't be able to see them very much and if it helps with Mama's problem, then that's even better." Rilisa placed one last item in the basket where K'hetah had put the breakable one, then began to gather things in such a way that indicated what was left was not breakable at all.
The bronzerider nodded, rather relieved that his guilt about interfering was unnecessary. "Can I help you with anything else?"
"Yes." Rilisa grinned as she finished packing the baskets. "You can help my mothers by taking the next load to the hall. I bet they'll need a break after they get back."
"I'd be happy to." Though he would have been happier if he could have justified using Loeth to take him. It wasn't that he didn't think he could walk as far as the Dolphin Hall - just that he wasn't used to doing such things. "Ylisahn said she had a hut behind the wharves. Will I have any trouble finding it?"
"No, it will be pretty obvious. Besides, Mom's going to stay and Mama's coming back with the empty cart." The original plan had been that Ylisahn would return alone and Rilisa would help her with the last load. Of course, if a big, strong, handsome bronzerider was willing to pull, they'd move all that much faster. "And we'll be going with you so there's no way you can get lost."
"Ahh, well that's good, then." He shrugged, grinning. "You know, dragonriders without their dragons - we're a pretty helpless bunch." It was good to know that he could do something to help after being the catalyst for such a big change in Ylisahn's life. "Should I put these baskets outside the door?"
"Yes, that sounds like a fine idea." Rilisa picked up two baskets and headed toward the door. "That might make things go faster."
"Might do," he said, looking around and thinking that even so there was still quite a bit to move.
