Rondera had walked away after one last hug. The girl had been stoic, having listened to everyone telling her that it just meant that her dragon had been clutched yet; that there would be many more chances for her on the sands before she got too old. K'reyel knew that all too well, he himself having stood until he was in his twentieth turn before Erdenth had chosen him. So he could understand how his niece felt as she left to see her father.

The River Bluff Weyrleader turned, to see stood near to him, the new Weyrleader of Dolphin Cove. Stepping closer, he greeted the man. "Congratulations Weyrleader, a fine hatching."

"Thank you." N'vanik smiled.

"I hear also that congratulations should be offered to your daughter."

His smile widened. "Yes. I'm so happy for her."

"Was it her first time on the sands?"

"Her second. She stood for the last Hatching at Dragonsfall, then she came here. I told her it would be good luck!" Whether she liked it or not, he was going to be paying lots of visits to Cosani now. He wanted to watch Shalith grow up, and see Cosani grow into a rider.

"My niece stood for her second time today, but she was not so lucky." remarked K'reyel. "She's with her father now," the bronzerider gestured to his brother, who had his arm around his daughter as he talked to her.

"Sorry to hear that."

"She has turns yet, she's only just of age. I myself was an older impression, as was my father."

"She has quite the bloodline."

"Now that sounds like my father talking, it's what he said to me that first time I was left on the sands."

N'vanik made an amused sound. "That's one of the better people I've been compared to."

"I believe he'd be honoured to hear that," K'reyel replied. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I really should go and speak to my brother before I take my leave of them."

"Yes. I can see several people hovering around, just waiting for you to leave so they can talk to me." N'vanik smiled. He'd never expected a day like this. "Have a good night."

"And you Weyrleader, once again, congratulations."
