"Wow, you look chipper today." Meledei didn't think she'd ever seen anyone quite so happy to wash dishes. The candidate watched her friend as she approached the sink. Water was already pouring in preparation for the dishes that piled on the side. "I didn't realize you enjoyed this sort of things so much."

Sorsha giggled as she rolled up her sleeves and grabbed the bag of sweetsand. "I've got reason to be chipper, I'm a newly married woman!"

"What?" Meledei ignored the water and stared at her fellow candidate. "Since when?"

She giggled again, "Since this afternoon. We ran over to the Harper Hall and did it."

"Seriously?" Meledei stared incredulously for a moment then let out a laugh. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I thought you two were going to wait!"

"We were. But with our families not here yet and the hatching any day... we didn't want to chance not being able to be called husband and wife." Sorsha explained as she passed the sweetsand over to her dish partner, "At least for a few days," she added with a grin.

"Well, I guess I can't fault you for that." Meledei grinned as she turned off the water. "Alas, I'm not so fortunate as to have found anyone with whom I feel that sort of thing. It must be nice, though."

Sorsha didn't want to rub it in, but she was too excited to finally be married to hold it in, "It is! It's wonderful! And I'm sure there is somebody out there for you, you just haven't found him yet."

"Maybe." But unless she never impressed, Meledei wouldn't be surprised if she never got married. Of course, she could always Weyrmate with someone. That, somehow, didn't seem quite so permanent to her. It was as if dragonriders felt it was a good way to show a commitment without committing completely. Her parents had been different, that was certain. She hoped she had something like they did. "It's a shame you're both candidates. You don't really have much time to get away and just be together."

Sorsha smiled and passed over a stack of plates, "We have little moments here and there, it's the commitment that's important to us. We'll find time eventually."

"It's going to be hard if either of you impress." Meledei warned, though she felt certain they had already heard that from others. Maybe it was a good thing she did _not_ have anyone.

"Well, you know I'm already worried about sharing Railen." Sorsha said, the smile gone from her face for a moment. Then she remembered the ceremony and the smile was back. "Now at least, maybe I can hold on to the fact that we're married if I feel lonely and he's off with his dragon?"

But they wouldn't be married any longer if he, she, or both of them impressed. Meledei decided to keep her mouth shut. "Well, congratulations to you both! I think it's wonderful."

"Thank you." Sorsha grinned again. "When our families get here I'm sure we'll have a party of some sort, you'll have to come."

"I'm not going to say no to a party!" Meledei grinned then looked down at the water and wrinkled her nose. "Though I wouldn't mind saying no to these dishes."

"Me either. Let's get them finished and done with." Sorsha agreed, she wanted to finish as quickly as possible so she could get back to her new husband!
