Description: Sh'dori gets a scolding from the Weyrleader.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 11 of Turn 4
He'd noticed the brownrider slipping in at the last minute _again_, and decided he would be the first one he talked to after drills. **Could you tell Rahmuth that his needs to see me after drills?**
}:Done,{ Loseth confirmed.
Rahmuth relayed Loseth's message to his rider. Sh'dori grumbled a bit, ** I wasn't exactly _late_.**
}: Oh, really? :{ the brown sounded sarcastic.
When everyone had landed, N'vanik slid off Loseth and stood beside his dragon. He stripped off his helmet and gloves and pulled at the fastenings of his riding jacket while he waited for Sh'dori.
Sh'dori didn't exactly hurry to go to the Weyrleader. "You wanted to see me?" he asked when he finally arrived to the waiting bronzerider.
"I've noticed you're ... not the most eager to get to drills," N'vanik said.
Sh'dori shrugged. "I don't see any reason to run from place to place with my tongue hanging at belt level."
"Getting here on time isn't the same thing as running around. I don't like to get up early, but I still make it to drills on time, because I have to." The Weyrleader's voice had a hint of an edge to it.
"When you reach my age, you will notice that there are more important things than be right on time to drills," Sh'dori replied. "You can't find any fault in my drill performances, do you?" he asked, well know that his drill performance was good one, once he got there. He and Rahmuth worked with harmonious unison that younger rider could only envy. Getting started had always been hard for Sh'dori, but once he had gotten into it, he did good work.
"No. If I did, I'd be chewing you out instead of just talking."
"So, what's the problem then?" Sh'dori asked. He honestly couldn't see anything wrong in that that he was last one to appear to the drills.
"You're sending the message that you don't care. That you'll do the minimum effort. If the Weyr was full strength, maybe I wouldn't care. But it's not. I need you to at least act like you care about showing up on time," N'vanik said.
"I'll improve my manners, sir," Sh'dori said. What else he could say? He did care, he just never thought of it from that point of view.
"Good. I'll see you tomorrow, then," N'vanik said. "On time." He found it odd to be pulling a rider aside to talk to them about their behaviour, when he'd been on the receiving end so many times.
"Yes, sir," the brownrider nodded, his face serious. Inside he was grinning. He actually found it rather amusing, to be scolded by some on who was young enough to be his son.
