Description: Teseada runs into Y'nub and for once gets the last word.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 19 of Turn 4
Teseada was finding that Onnyth liked to have her close by with those
beautiful eggs of hers on the sands. But there were a few things she did do
herself, no matter how much the Gold disliked it, and one of those was to
return the trays that had been brought to her from the kitchens.
She was on her way back to the sands, with a pile of hides in her arms, when
the slightly off balance stack slipped and landed on the floor. As she bent
to pick them up, a shadow fell across them.
"You know, you go about sticking your rump in the air like that and people
might get a certain idea about you, this is a Weyr after all." Y'nub said
humorously as he watched her gather the hides. Any other gold rider and he
would have been hurridly trying to help her retrieve them, but it was only
Teseada, and he knew the gesture wouldn't do any good.
That voice... Any other person and she'd have laughed. "Just go away Y'nub,
I'm not in the mood for this."
"Onnyth's making you a bit peevish today isn't she." He didn't know why he
had to keep antagonizing the girl, she could very well be Weyrwoman one day,
he just couldn't seem to stay away from her.
"I said I'm not in the mood," she repeated as she got to her feet with the
hides in a more orderly stack. "If anything she's making me feel proud of
the fact that _we've_ accomplished something together."
"Hmm, yes, thirty eggs is a fair showing." he admitted, "Of course, if
Larweth hadn't been cut off at the end of the flight, you would have had
more to be proud of."
"Thirty is more than plenty to be proud of for a first flight and you know
that, and given that Onnyth knows of my dislike for you, well I doubt
Larweth will ever manage to succeed."
Her words stung but he tried to ignore them, "You didn't seem to dislike me
all the times we were in bed together. You would have enjoyed yourself if
you wouldn't have been so petty during the flight."
"That was before I knew what kind of a wherry's arse you are. None of your
words meant anything other than winning a bet with that tunnelsnake of a
brownrider you call a friend. At least U'kaiah was a gentleman after the
flight, I don't think you know what word means." Teseada glared at Y'nub,
hoping she could keep her face from showing that yes, she had enjoyed being
with him, but finding out that it was all a lie had hurt her deeply. "You're
a liar and I pity the next girl you get into your bed."
Now Y'nub was starting to get offended. "And you think I would have _what_,
kicked you out of the cot after the flight? Weyr politics is what it is
goldrider, and don't think U'kaiah is any different than the rest of us. If
he'd have had the chance, he would have bedded you before Onnyth's flight
too."
"No, he wouldn't. Politics or not you don't have to sleep around."
It didn't sound like she'd had that many bronze bedmates, if any, and for
some reason that pleased Y'nub. "Perhaps you're right," he conceeded,
"I'll definetly be trying that line of thought when Larweth goes for
Traelyn's Nyith."
"You wouldn't stand a chance, I think she'd like a man, not a boy who
behaves like a brat barely out of Harper classes." She couldn't resist the
retort.
Y'nub slapped his hand to his chest, faking pain, and said sarcastically,
"Right to the heart goldrider, you really know how to toss those daggers."
"I had a good teacher when it came to wounding the heart," came the reply.
"Now if you'll excuse me, Onnyth needs me."
