J'darin

J'darin

There was someone beside her. Someone warm. Zelle smiled, though her eyes remained closed. Who was it? She had a vague memory of faces, but two had stood out - K'hetah and J'darin's. Had either of them caught her? She breathed in. A spicy sweet scent greeted her. No, not K'hetah. K'hetah didn't smell like that. Her hand began to caress the man's arm, up, then down. He smelled nice. Her gaze open and was greeted by a familiar and well liked face. If she couldn't have K'hetah, she couldn't complain about this catch either.

As always, sense was slow to return to the participants of a Flight.
J'darin, especially, had not been on the winning side of a Flight since Hasaarth had caught Nyith the last time.

A pleasure-filled murmur escaped him at that memory, and it was echoed by his bronze dragon. Hasaarth was still curled protectively around his prize, though J'darin found himself wondering, as his brain began to function slightly, what would Nyith say to her mate spending himself on a _green_?

The worry was enough to open his eyes all the way. Would she choose another bronze because of it? And why would he worry about that right _now_?

He sat up all the way as another, far more important, thought hit him.
**Oh Maurgen.. what will you say? Will you understand?**

"J'darin?" His reaction caught her off guard, unbalanced her and she sat up, hand gently touching his shoulder. The look on his face was one of worry. But why? "Is...something wrong?"

Realizing that Zelle was awake, he immediately tried to wipe the worry off his face. He turned toward her and pulled her close to him.
They would need to get off the cots and to his weyr... it was close enough to stumble to since Hasaarth was clearly not about to move.
Embarassed that he should be so impolite after a flight - and a great one if his body was telling him anything - he smiled gently at her and took her hand from his shoulder to his lips, kissing it softly.
"Nothing is wrong, Zelle. Your green gave the boys quite a chase."

Zelle relaxed, though only a little. K'hetah had caught her green before and while she had relished in his closeness, he had been...well he had never been impolite, but he had never been openly welcome. She smiled, but it was hesitant as the vision of the worry that had crossed over his face when he had sat up made her wonder if he wasn't speaking truthfully. "That's my Rillith." She paused for a moment, then asked softly, "Are you sure nothing is wrong? You looked as if something troubled you."

His face tightened around his solid blue eyes and he hesitated. "Its Maurgen..." His voice dropped softly. "I don't know if I should take you to my weyr... or to yours.." He leaned forward to kiss the top of her head.

Zelle wasn't sure what to say. She sighed softly, taking a moment to let her fingers trail up J'darin's arm and down his chest. A moment later, she pulled away and began to get dressed. "Then perhaps neither. The flight's over anyway and she'll probably expect you soon enough."

He felt terrible. Very terrible. At the same time, his body responded quite obviously to her nails trailing down his chest. He shivered. This was going to be hard. Because of Nyith, he and Hasaarth didn't often find themselves in a place like this, and well, Maurgen was his love, even more than his lover. "Oh Zelle, I'm so sorry. I want to stay with you.... I do. I should go, but I will not run away from you; you're lovely and both Hasaarth and I are very happy." He sighed softly, feeling the edges of leftover flight lust wrapping around him.

He finally summoned his best J'darin smile; simple and open. "Welcome to Dolphin Cove?"

Zelle smirked. "Thanks." She slid her pants on and tightened them with the ties. "It's okay, J'darin," She tried to keep her voice as light as she could. "I understand. I don't want you to get into trouble with your weyrmate or anything. So you don't have to stay."

A tinge of embarassment brushed J'darin's cheeks. It could have been leftover lust, but whatever it was, it caused him to look down in shame. "She isn't exactly my weyrmate, and I wouldn't get in 'trouble'. But I feel... " He looked up and stared at her for a moment.

"Come on Zelle, we'll go to my weyr...unless you say no...".

The greenrider hesitated, uncertain, then held her hand out to the weyrleader. "If you're sure..."

He held her gaze for a long while, searching. But it was inside himself he searched, not her. "I'm sure." At least, he thought he was sure.

Zelle's fingers closed around J'darin's and she pulled herself close.
Her eyes searched his. Then, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him tenderly on the lips. When she pulled back, she smiled a little.
"Perhaps you should find your love instead. I think she would prefer to be with you rather than you be with me."

Trying to ignore the rampant desire her kiss ignited in him, when combined with lingering flight lust, he shivered. Shards, this was hard. Dragons had it easy.

He finally nodded, held her for a moment, then turned toward his weyr.
"Thank you, Zelle." He murmured softly, then walked away. He wasn't running from her, though. He was running from himself.

Zelle watched him go, sighing as he left and rubbed her eyes. She just had the worst luck in men, it seemed. She wouldn't have minded the time with J'darin, but two things held her back. First, he did have someone in his life, even if she didn't. And two...well...she didn't usually work that way, not after the flight was over. Zelle shook her head and made her own way out of the weyr, but this time, alone.
