The harper sighed. "Tay, how are we going to do this? You've a little more idea of what's in store than I do, but even you express doubts." "I've almost no idea of what is involved, only what I have gleaned from Binta and the other women in the kitchens. They all consider me so naive."

"You're supposed to be making me feel more confident, dearest." He leaned his head next to hers. "This conversation isn't really doing that." "I'm sorry, I guess its just that I want to hurry this whole process along, and just have them here with us. I thought that if we chose their names, we'd have them here just a little sooner - in a way." she turned her face towards him and smiled. "Silly, I know."

He kissed her lightly before replying, a mere brush of his lips over hers. "You are right, you know. We should start thinking of some names that we'd both consider to be acceptable." "If you're sure." she smiled, the feel of his lips on hers clearing some of her doubts away. "Should we make a list?"

"If we start now, we might have enough names in time for either the babies' birth or their first birthingday," he chuckled. "At the Weyrs they combine the parents' names. Should we consider that?" "We could, I quite like that idea." she nodded happily, "Besides - it gives us a starting point."

He nodded, again solemn. "Harette and Tamette for girls? Or do we have other options?" "Or Haryette and Taytum?" she said busily scribbling down the names on a slip of paper. "I really have no preference..." she shook her head, looking back up at him.

"I like those even better." He closed his eyes, saying the names to himself, hearing them almost as song lyrics. "For boys. . . change to Taytam, providing we have no Taytum. Or how about Tayhar?" "OOooh I like that one!" she said, hurriedly scribbling 'Tayhar' onto the page and underscoring it heavily. "This is fun..." she said, looking up and smiling as she reached to smooth her palm down the side of his face. "I want a little boy to take after his father, and Tayhar would be a lovely name."

"It _is_ fun, but any further additions to the list will need to wait." He indicated the tray that he had carried into the room. "You need to eat, especially since you're nourishing all three of you." With a nod she lay the paper and pen aside and reached for the tray, "At least I'm not likely to throw this all back up, now." she said with a half smile. "I'm so glad the sickness finally abated." she picked up a piece of fruit and popped it into her mouth. "Thank you - for this." she said, indicating the tray.

"It's your birthingday, love, and I wanted to do something special for you." Hartam cleared his throat. "And I . . . I wrote a song." "My.." various emotions played across her face at his words. "You... you remembered?" she shook her head slowly, a smile playing across her lips. "And a song?" her eyebrows rose in surprise, "For me?" she was bereft of words, but her eyes filled with tears of happiness, how had she managed to find this wonderful man, she wondered.

"It's not much of a song," he admitted. "It's only the beginning of one and not polished. I probably shouldn't even sing it for you." "Oh no - you can't back out now." she reached out and lay a hand on his arm, "Please?"

He nodded and went for his gitar, resting in a corner of the room, his stomach feeling as if it were full of busy crawlers. He usually felt nervous introducing new songs, but this went beyond that nervousness. Singing for a crowd, most of them anonymous, was one thing, but singing for Tayette held so much more meaning. He plucked at the strings and made a few adjustments before starting in, settling near the bed, but concentrating on his gitar as he sang.

"You appeared when least expected, When I thought that love would ne'er come.
You appeared and my life changed forever, My old life fore'er overcome.
From the moment that I met you, Something caused a spark.
You brought me into the light From my lonely dark.
You walked along beside me, Your demeanor so serene, And brought me from my life Of meaningless routine.
You appeared when least expected, When I thought that love would ne'er come.
You appeared and my life changed forever, My old life fore'er overcome." He stopped, clearing his throat. "It needs. . . it's not polished. And the other verses are so far just phrases. I'm sorry." She sat back on the bed, her eyes awash with tears as she gazed adoringly at him. "You wrote that for me... It's beautiful." She shook her head trying to deny how much his song had affected her, but found she couldn't, "Absolutely beautiful..." she said, wiping at her eyes.

He blushed at her reaction. "I wanted to give you something special for your birthday. But all I really had to give was myself and my song." "You've given me so much..." she answered softly, "... much more than I could ever have hoped for." she slipped her hand into his and squeezed it softly. "This life - the one I have now, is something I only ever dreamed of before."

"It's far more than I've even dreamt," he admitted. He took her hand in both of his and squeezed it. "But now – breakfast. Eat, feed yourself and the little ones."
