Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were following me." Y'nub's cool voice teased as he brushed past the goldrider. He layed the scroll he'd been searching the shelves for on the table next to the two he already had spread out and looked up at the girl's face.
**Shards,** she thought as the bronzerider just looked at her. "Why on Pern would I do that?" she managed after a moment, proud of herself for staying calm.
He smiled and shook his head, "A woman's mind is mysterious, so I'm not sure, but first in the store room, and now here. In a Weyr so large, it can hardly be a coincidence."
"Some of us have work to do," was all she said as she reached up to the shelves to pull down a volume of tithe records. "Work I'd rather do alone."
Y'nub shrugged and sat down at the table he had been using. "Well we can't always get what we want now can we goldrider?"
"And what's that supposed to mean?" she said, going on the defensive.
"I could order you to leave, and believe me, I will if I have to."
The bronzerider quit with his playing tone and looked her in the eyes.
"It _means_ that I was here first, and I'm looking at scrolls that can't be removed from this room, and it would be childish of you to make me leave just because you got your feelings hurt during some Weyr politics."
"Me being childish?" her voice rose. "I'd think that was the pot calling the kettle black, after all you and your little _playmates_ with their strange ideas of fun."
"Shards Teseada!" Y'nub groaned, a fight is not was he was planning on today. If he'd wanted that, he could have visited some of the women he'd had childen with! "You can't really be that nieve can you?
You've got to realize by now that when bronze riders pay special attention to you that it's only because of your dragon's color right?"
"Some bronzeriders know better, maybe one day when you grow up you'll realise that. Unfortunatrely, I think the pass will end before that happens," she snapped at him. "Grow up Y'nub, some people see me for who I am, with or without Onnyth."
"Some bronzeriders might, but most will only see you as a pleasent means to bettering their chance at Weyr leadership." he tossed back, "And if you don't think about that every time you're bedding one of them, then _you're_ the one that needs to grow up!"
"If that's the way you think, then you aren't fit to even think of ever being a Weyrleader. And I'll more than make sure Onnyth knows my feelings on the matter."
Y'nub gave a bark of laughter, "You can tell her all you want. You know she likes my bronze, and come flight time she might not listen to you."
"Believe me, she'll listen. Either that or I can try my best to make sure you have duty elsewhere on that day."
"Try what you will goldrider", the bronzerider replied, tired of the game, and not at all as sure as he was making himself sound, "but you won't stop Larweth from claiming his prize."
"Just you wait, she'll know whats best for her and me when she rises, and it'll not be either of you."
