Description: K'deren and Linori wake up after K'deren's Donneth flies her Serrath.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 1 of Turn 4
Warmth seeped through the lust induced slumber that had drowned her.
He was still there, her head upon his shoulder, her arm slung across his chest. Nori didn't open her eyes right away, enjoying the feel of him. It was only a mating flight, but the pleasantness of the event still washed over her, giving her a sense of contentment. She was comfortable and she hated to think that she would have to move any time soon.
"You're awake," he said. K'deren had woken a few moments earlier and had had time to put things together. Donneth had been so determined to catch the green, and there was no way he would stop him from enjoying the thrill of the chase, and the catch too.
"Do I have to be?" Linori murmured, still refusing to open her eyes.
She didn't want to move. Not yet. "I could go back to sleep instead."
"I'm not surprised," he replied, a soft chuckle escaping his lips.
"Your green gave Donneth quite the chase out there."
"Serrath may be little, but she's fast." Linori let her eyes open halfway, though she didn't even try to move off of the brownrider. "I hope Donneth and his rider enjoyed themselves."
"He did, I can tell." The sleepy contentment from the brown was enough to let his rider know his feelings. "He did, and I did too."
"Good." Linori finally did move, but just a little, lifting her head to get a good look at the brownrider. During a mating flight wasn't really a good time to get to know whomever caught your dragon. Her eyes searched his face, the fine features that she would consider handsome. She had seen him in the weyr to be sure, for she never forgot a face. She did not, however, ever remember making a formal acquaintance. "I'm Linori."
"K'deren," he replied, sure she would know the name if not that of his dragon.
"Ah, I feel honoured now." A slow smile spread across Nori's lips. "Caught by a wingsecond. You know, I don't ever remember seeing you at any of Serrath's other flights. Then again, when those occur, it's really hard to take note of who's chasing."
"But I'm sure she knows."
"Well, she does at the time." Linori realised that her leg was still linked over his and she slowly slid it off of him. "I suppose I should get up and get back to my duties. What a shame. I feel so lazy right now."
"Surely you have a few moments yet."
"I suppose I could make a few moments yet." Linori studied the brownrider a little more. "So tell me about yourself, K'deren. I know little about you save that you're a wingsecond."
"With children just old enough to stand for a hatching," he joked. "And Journeyman knots as a smith."
"Ah, a crafter. I never did go into crafting." Well, that wasn't that much of a surprise. Linori had grown up at a hold and had been searched. Women didn't craft. "How many children do you have?"
"Four, my eldest is twelve and the youngest is two."
"That's a wide range." Linori propped an elbow upon K'deren's chest and rested her chin in her palm. "Girls or boys?"
"Two of each."
"It must be nice, having children." Linori couldn't stop a wistful sigh from escaping.
"Maybe one day, with the right partner...." he suggested.
The wistfulness faded from Linori's face and pushed herself up, then slid off of the bed. "I should get dressed." She spoke softly, but there was strain in her voice. She stood up, reaching for the tangle of clothes that had been torn off in the heat of the flight.
"It was a good flight you know," he said as he stood as well, reaching for his pants.
"It was fun." Linori agreed as she slid her shirt over her head, her arms punching their way through the sleeves. She too picked up her pants, sliding them up her legs and then fumbling with the ties.
"And you never know, maybe another time Donneth will be lucky again."
Linori finished the tying and looked over to K'deren. She pushed a strand of her chin length hair back behind her ear and smiled at K'deren. "Possibly."
He returned the smile. "Maybe."
"Maybe." Linori's smile faltered and she ran a hand over her hair. "Well, anyway, it was nice meeting you formally. I'm sure we'll see one another around."
"Nice meeting you too," was the reply. "Perhaps a cup of Klah some time?"
"Sure, that would be nice." Linori tucked her shirt into her pants.
The man seemed nice, and it wouldn't hurt to get to know him a little better. "Maybe...tomorrow, after dinner?"
"That works for me," he replied, voice a little muffled as he slipped his tunic over his head.
Linori watched K'deren for a moment, then said a soft, "See you later,"
Then turned and headed out.
