Solieira chuckled as she spotted the fairly new resident of the Weyr, Master Miner Zebrekhan, chatting up a few young, earnest greenriders.
His looks were certainly attractive enough for an older man, and the greenriders were notoriously fascinated by men who swaggered.
Sol rolled her soft brown eyes and laughed again as they all scattered at once. Must be time for drills, she thought absently, before grabbing a pitcher of klah. She hadn't spoken much to the Master Miner since she'd welcomed him and assigned him a nice weyr, but perhaps she'd better see how he was settling in for herself. Although, by all looks, he was settling in just fine!
"Master Zebrekhan?" She offered as she walked up beside his table.
"Might I pour you a bit more klah and join you? Now that your...
guests.. have fled?" She grinned at him, clearly teasing.
Zeb smiled up at the Headwoman, catching her meaning exactly. "Youth scatters in the face of beauty. Since you frightening off my friends, I think it only right you should keep me company in their place."
A warm laugh and she made a mock pout, looking much put-upon. "Beauty indeed. Are you sure you aren't a Harper with that agile a tongue?"
A grin, then she took an empty chair.
"I suppose I may be able to keep you company for a bit, Master Zebrekhan. A Headwoman's work is surely never done and keeping older men company must be part of my job somewhere." She laughed and refilled his mug of klah, adding one for herself. "I was going to ask you how you like River Bluff, but River Bluff certainly seems to like _you_!"
He shrugged modestly as he wrapped his fingers around his mug. "They're just being kind, I'm sure."
"Quite likely, we do love visitors and new arrivals here. Its one of the things I most enjoy about River Bluff. We've had fairly consistent leadership, at least in our Weyrwoman, and it makes for a very enjoyable life. So, how do you find our Weyr, Master Zebrekhan?
You're settling in alright?"
"Please, just call me Zeb," he said, smiling charmingly.
Sol responded with a broad grin of her own. A charming man, indeed.
Much like she found U'das to be - and why she liked her bronzerider quite a lot. Perhaps not only young greenriders enjoyed a swagger?
Her eyes sparkled with mischief at her thoughts, and she winked at him. "Zeb, then. In that case, how do you like it here at River Bluff, Zeb?"
"It's quite nice! The people are friendly, the climate is warm, the views are lovely. And yes, I actually do mean the _scenery_ when I refer to views."
She laughed at him, nodding in agreement. "You might be one of the few, Zeb, who actually does mean the scenery!" She looked across the dining cavern, perring out the large entrance. "It really is a lovely place. Kind to our older bones, isn't it?"
"That's true, but I will miss the seasons." The turning leaves, that electrifying smell of the first frost, a dusting of snow, the first shoots of spring.
Sol shuddered a bit, shaking her head. "Not me, boyo. Not me."
Another smile flickered his way and she rose to her feet. "Back to work for me, Zeb. But come by any time for a cup of klah, or a chat, or if you need anything, hmm?"
"Anything?" he asked, another cocky grin pulling at the corners of his lips.
Sol's laugh and the hint of warmth of her bold look was the reaction he received after his comment, and she returned his grin, a bit saucily for a woman of her turns. "You should be so lucky, Zeb!" The twinkle lit up the brown in her eyes and made them shine. U'das' attention and months of loving were definitely warming up the Headwoman, and reminding her that turns were often no barrier to the more base wants of the body. She truly had no desire for anyone in her bed but the bronzerider, but Zeb seemed a very fun sort. So, she added, with that same grin, "Yes, anything at all. I am a Headwoman of many talents, you know."
"I will keep that in mind," the geologist nodded, slipping in a brazen wink. Shards, he loved the Weyr!
"Welcome to River Bluff Weyr, Zeb!" was all she said, but she was grinning all the while. Shaking her head and chuckling, she rose to her feet and waved gaily to him as she headed back to work. U'das would laugh himself silly and then ask her how the night was if she told him.
