Characters: Kaldyn, Karei
Description: Kaldyn is caught up in the confusion of the green mating flight
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 4, day 25 of Turn 4

Kaldyn sat nursing his mug of ale, watching the lively banter going on around him. He really should be making a move back towards the cot, his work for the day done and another deal made to trade his goods with those of another hold.
Root stock for fresh meat, always a good deal. He was pleased with the way things had turned out, Formarn had been more than agreeable to deal with, and it should prove a fortuitous agreement for all concerned.

Taking another draught of ale, he was conscious of being watched and turned to find one of the tavern workers smiling beguilingly at him. A buxom woman, Easta had always been pleasant to him and Karei whenever they had come to the tavern in recent times, but always beneath the surface he detected more than just pleasantries.

He wondered where that thought had sprung from, he looked at his ale, maybe he had had enough? He really should be going, but be damned, he was enjoying himself. He didn't need to go home yet, and Easta was such a fine looking woman he smiled across at her, as she cleared the table nearby of its empty mugs and plates of half eaten food.

He glanced across at the dais where the Harpers were playing and noticed a concerned look on the Tavern Harpers face as he watched the collection of dragonriders. His attention was soon drawn again to the fine figure Easta was showing off tonight. Her low cut bodice showing her ample assets to anyone willing to watch her. She turned and flashed a smile his way, and Kaldyn felt a deep stirring in his nether regions.

He shifted uncomfortably in his seat, and gave Easta a flash of teeth, half smile half leer. What was coming over him? He could feel a heat rising deep within him, and knew his pulse was quickening. Why hadn't he noticed Easta's more obvious charms the last few times he had been at the Tavern. All thought's of Karei were forgotten as the Tavern worker passed him by, he could feel a heat emanating from her, and her scent was heavy on the air around him.

Kaldyn's eyes didn't leave the Tavern worker as she made her way across to the bar, and left the fully loaded tray there, before making her way back towards him. He noticed that he wasn't the only one aware of her charms, as other eyes followed the woman around the tables. Other's eyes leered at her; other lips were licked as breath quickened at her nearness.

Suddenly there was an uproar from the other side of the Tavern, and Easta was called back to the bar by one of the other workers. Hushed whispers ensued, and his wasn't the only sigh that was expelled around the room when Easta and the other women were ushered out to the back of the Tavern. She flashed a grin at him over her shoulder and nodded towards the back of the Tavern as she was pushed through the doorway.

He stumbled to his feet, a mixture of anger and excitement rushed through him.
Anger that he had been denied the pleasing view of Easta's figure, and excitement in the signal she had thrown him, as she left. He was eager to be outside, but stopped short as a dark and forbidding roar echoed in his ears.
More than one answering bellow could be heard, and suddenly everyone in the Tavern was aware of what was happening, not least the stupid rider who had missed the signs from his heated dragon.

Kaldyn stumbled hurriedly towards the door, he wasn't alone in his attempt to escape, the desire to leave this place was strong, more so than the desire he couldn't hide from Easta as she appeared outside the doorway. His weren't the first or even second set of hands that claimed the Tavern worker, they didn't claim her at all. He rushed past the aroused mob and made his way to the stables, grateful that his runner had been tethered outside and not stalled inside.

He wasted no time mounting the runner and, kicking her up to speed, he cantered past the group watching the evening skies, as the green winged her way up -
overhead. He allowed a groan to escape, half disappointment - half relief as the further away from the Tavern he got, the less anxious and urgent his emotions became. Now he just wanted to be safe at home with Karei. He still couldn't believe how quickly, and raw, his arousal had come upon him - more like a rutting herdbeast than a man possessed of control and maturity.

He was out of breath by the time he arrived at the cot, the runner sweating and foaming as Kaldyn swung out of the saddle and hurriedly rubbed the beast down. He called out for Kardyn, and turned at his sons arrival. "Take care of her for me...I...I need to see your mother."

With a puzzled look, Kardyn nodded and took the reigns from his fathers hands, "Aye, Dar. You.. Go!"

With a nod of relief, he turned and walked quickly across the courtyard to the door of their cot. Karei stood in the doorway, drying her hands on a cloth.

"What happened? I heard the runner...what's wrong." she reached out to her husband, worry marring her face.

Kaldyn dragged her into his arms and crushed her lips beneath his, still unable to completely shake his arousal, but trying hard not to take the animalistic energy out on the woman he loved. "Dragons, mating flights... I'll explain later. Where's Reia?" he asked huskily.

"With your mother, why?" Karei could sense his arousal, but even with the few short words he had uttered the true meaning escaped her.

"Then come with me..." he took her hand and led her to their room at the back of the cot. Urgency was still upon him, but he tempered it, becoming more commanding of the urges he was feeling. "I.... I _need_ you.." he pulled her onto the bed with him, his lips taking hers more considerately this time, as a low moan escaped his lips and hummed against hers.

Finally his words penetrated the confusion she had been feeling, "Ohhh ...
dragons ..." she murmured against his lips. It was all coming together now, she had heard of the influence of mating flight dragons, from Kaldyn's brothers and sister, but never before had she experienced the effects. Her lips met her husbands again, his passion igniting something mutual in her. Her arms slipped around his shoulders and she pulled him closer to her.

"No dragons now...just you." his words caressed her ear, the warmth of his breath in the outer shell sending shivers racing back and forth along her spine.
"Always and only - you..." his hands slid down her sides, and began to slowly tug at her clothing as he finally took command of his emotions and became once more, the gentle but demanding lover she was used to.
