Talrian stuck his head inside Jio's office after being bid enter, giving the journeyman a wide smile. "Journeyman Jio? This _is_ the correct office, isn't it?" "Yes, I'm Journeyman Jio," the man inside replied as he looked up from his book of herbs at the man standing in the doorway. As his eyes locked on the Healer knots on his shoulder a wide grin spread across his face. "Journeyman Talrian?"
The healer slipped into the office and closed the door. "Yes indeed.
Weyrhealer Abrei's cousin as well, sent here with the strictest orders to help you in any way possible or face certain death at her hands." Jio threw his head back and laughed. "And here I thought the Weyrhealer had forgotten all about me! If I had known what secret plots she was cooking up..." He raised and offered the man his hand. "You don't know how happy I am to meet you!"
"Likewise..." Talrian shook Jio's hand and took the seat opposite his desk.
"And my cousin never forgets _anything_ if it has to do with healing. She wasn't about to let you out of her grasp. I've heard she's been very pleased with how the wine for joint-ail has helped one of her patients." "Wonderful!" Jio was pleased to hear that the Weyrhealer of River Bluff Weyr was impressed with his work. "How did she convince you to come?"
"I was looking for a new posting," Talrian admitted, shifting a little in his seat. "I'm afraid I lost my wife a turn ago, and my daughter and I found a few too many memories at the Healer Hall. Abrei's father mentioned to me that she'd been trying to find someone with an interest in herbs."
"I'm very sorry to hear about your wife. But, yes, I am in desperate need to find someone to advise me on a regular basis. I can only do so much on my own - mostly just play with the flavors of wines I already know how to make. But with a healer's help, I can start trying kinds of wine."
"Well, I know _plenty_ about herbs," Talrian said with a grin. "Not so much about wines, though... If you teach me, I'll teach you." Jio smiled, barely able to contain his excitement. A healer, not only skilled in herbs but showing an interest in wines! He was going to have to send the River Bluff Weyrhealer a nice gift, he decided. "It would be my pleasure! Anything you want to know. In fact, if you would like, why don't I take you and your family on a tour. That is, unless you have already seen everything." "That would be wonderful," Talrian replied warmly. "I wanted to give my daughter a little while to settle in first... but I'm sure she's ready to go exploring now, if she hasn't already." "I've been here less than a turn myself, but I can show you both all the nooks and crannies. I suppose she wouldn't be so interested in learning how we make wine, though..."
Talrian laughed. "Probably not. Perhaps you could share dinner with us some night... I'm sure she's got our cot set up beautifully by now." "Thank you, sir, I would love to! We have a lot to talk about." An almost boyish glee filled Jio eyes. Finally, someone he could actually _talk_ to about his work on a regular basis!
"We do indeed!" Talrian leaned forward, looking every bit as excited. "First though, I want to see some of these wines you've prepared!"
