Location: River Bluff Weyr

"Ar'lis!" Abrei had wandered out of her office just in time to see one of the journeymen sit Ar'lis down on one of the cots. Closing her office door, Abrei bore down on the suddenly terrified looking journeyman, ordering him from the area with a pointed finger. Once he'd fled, Abrei snapped the curtain shut and turned to look at Ar'lis with a wide smile. "I've been meaning to track you down, Ar'lis. I have questions for you, and now you're stuck here until you answer them."
The bronzerider stared at her, and had a feeling that maybe he should be a at least a _little_ afraid of that wide smile of hers. She'd never smiled at him in quite that...fashion before. Wondering what she wanted to interrogate him about, he rolled back his sleeve and stuck out his arm towards her. "Can you at least take care of my arm first, Abrei? Since you scared my designated healer off?" He'd gotten a rather deep gash on it from drills earlier, and the last thing he wanted was an infection!
Abrei pulled a stool over and sat on it. "I'll take care of your arm... if you tell me what, exactly, you are up to with Gaiya."
"Since when did you start really paying attention to idle Weyr gossip?" he asked her, more than a little surprised that she had asked after _Gaiya_, of all people.
"I have never paid attention to a single bit of gossip in my life," Abrei replied tartly, washing the cut on his arm. "But it's hard to ignore when they start coming in to my office and asking advice on their love lives..."
He made a choking sound. "She did _what_?"
"I agree. Of all the people she could come and talk to..." Abrei shook her head and examined the cut. It was deeper than she'd at first thought, but luckily not so deep that she'd need to worry about stitching it back up. "I don't know what gave her the idea that I'd be useful."
"Me neither." He grinned at her. "So what kind of 'advice' did you give her on how to handle me, Abrei?"
Abrei snorted. "The only kind I know _how_ to give. Unromantic and practical." She reached over to pick up a bandage and started wrapping his arm. "Trust me, if she'd carried it out, you'd know."
One brow rose. "Oh? I would, would I?"
"Mmmhmm..." It was the work of a few moments to finish with the bandage, and she gave his knee a pat. "She's a sweet girl, Ar'lis. Don't do anything unfortunate that would make it necessary for me to cause pain instead of curing it."
The look in his eyes turned serious. "You know I wouldn't, Abrei." Then he grinned at her. "I'm nothing _but_ sweet to the women I spend time with."
"Uh-huh." She stood and braced her hands on her hips, tilting her head to one side. "Just remember that I am very fond of Gaiya, I have access to a great many sharp objects, and I have a _very_ detailed knowledge of human anatomy."
His grin only grew. "According to the rumors I've heard about you and a certain other bronzerider, I'm sure you _do_, Abrei."
Abrei scowled and resisted the temptation to hit him. It would probably defeat the purpose of healing him in the first place. Of course, she wasn't entirely sure if she minded... "Shut up and go woo someone who thinks your smile is charming, you brat."
He rose and winked at her. "Yes, m'am!" Then he darted out of her way before she could hit him - which he was _sure_ that's what she really wanted to do.
