Excuse me," Karri said quietly, not wanting to disturb the woman as she was hunched over some records. "Do you have a minute?" Tatitem finished the sentence and carefully marked her place before glancing up at the girl before her desk. She set her pencil aside, and raised an eyebrow. "Certainly. What do you need?"
"Well, I thought you should know that those two candidates you assigned to help me bath Elliath, never showed up yesterday." She didn't like to tattle on people, but if R'haran hadn't been there to help her she would have been stuck. "It was okay though, a friend helped me. I just thought you should know is all." Tatitem frowned as things clicked together in her mind. The girl had greenrider knots and was wearing a cast, the dragon was Elliath... Ah. "It was not okay." She said shortly as her eyes narrowed. Who had been assigned...? She started sorting through one of the piles on her desk, "And you are very good to inform me, Karri. There is no reason for them to leave you without assistance." She nodded at the cast.
"Well, like I said, R'haran was there, so it got taken care of." Karri repeated. "R'haran is a good man." She admitted, "But that is still no excuse for the candidates to be shirking. Ah." She found the hide she was looking for, making a mental note to organize her papers again. She could never find things after new piles were deposited on her desk. Her frown deepened. Turoar and Badaral. "Especially these two." She added darkly.
Those two drunks certainly had no excuse.
She could tell that the headwoman was planning unpleasant things for the two candidates, and while she didn't like stirring up trouble, she was somewhat pleased. "Maybe I could be assigned a couple of different candidates for tomorrow?"
She nodded, already making the appropriate notations on the hide."Of course. Those two won't be available tomorrow anyway." She added acerbically. They were going to be doing double chores on cleaning detail, with close supervision. If they'd had a decent excuse for their slacking, she would have heard it already. Hmm. Ah. Yes. "There. I've assigned you some other candidates for tomorrow. They've already proven themselves reliable, so you shouldn't have a problem."
"Thank you, I appreciate it." Karri said with a nod. "You're welcome." Tatitem said automatically. "Don't ever hesitate to tell me if this happens again. If the candidates are willing to throw away their chance to interact with a real dragon, then they don't deserve the opportunity." She finished severely.
Karri thought about it and smiled. "You know, you're right. It does kind of show poor character." Tati's lips twitched. "Precisely." She agreed. "Poor character, and a need to learn responsibility. Which can best be taught with practice." She added with a satisfied smile. Turoar in particular needed all the practice he could get -with a mop.
