The bronzerider slipped into a seat in the dining cavern. He heaved a sigh of relief, drills were over, he'd bathed and now he wanted a nice quiet evening.
Sh'dori handed him a mug. "Hard day, huh?" He asked symphatically.
"Just a bit. We were doing endurance drills."
"Oh, yeah, I so love those," Sh'dori remarked sarcastically.
"I think Naath is more tired than I am right now, he's sleeping it off."
Sh'dori's eyes glazed for the moment. "Well, looks like Rahmuth still has energy left to flirt with a lady green," he chuckled.
"I wish I did."
"So do I. I'm starting to feel my age," Sh'dori grumbled.
"I'll be right as rain after a nap," I'lan grinned. "I better be, promised your daughter I'd see her later."
"You better be rested," Sh'dori said with slightly wicked grin. "How are you two doing?"
"Pretty good," I'lan's grin broadened. "I like her, a lot. She's fun to be with."
"She's also very fertile woman, like all of my offsprings. We breed like tunnelsnakes," Sh'dori warned with a teasing tone.
"She says she's taking the herbs, I don't think I'm quite ready to be a Papa yet, unlike my canine. He found another bitch in heat just over a month ago, and in about three sevendays there'll be puppies."
"I might know someone who would like a puppy," Sh'dori said off-hand.
"You do?" asked I'lan.
"I have plenty of grandchildren who could cuddle a pet," Sh'dori said, although he was thinking of Raydori. Well, he better check with his sister first, if she agreed to give the lad a puppy.
"Well we'll have to wait and see how many puppies there are."
"Yeah, those things take their time," Sh'dori agreed.
"And it'll be a while after they're born before they can leave their mama, they're born with their eyes closed and all that."
"Uh-huh," Sh'dori grunted. He couldn't cared less. If it wasn't human baby, it wasn't interesting. Or dragon hatchling.
"I'll let you know when they are born."
"You do that," Sh'dori agreed.
"Do you think I should offer one to your daughter? I was wanting to surprise her."
"Maybe you should scout a little first, what she thinks of pets. Her sons probably would love the idea, but I don't know if she has the time for a puppy," Sh'dori said thoughtfully.
"I'll see what she thinks then," said I'lan thoughtfully after a moment. It was only a loose attachment to Sh'dori's daughter as so many had in the weyr.
