"Whoo! I don't think I've seen you off the dance floor all night!"
K'nure slid onto the bench beside Kenaline and stretched his arms above his head. Beer and music were making his head fuzzy - but in a good way. And they weren't affecting his vision at _all_. Thankfully.
"You're looking good tonight - I bet that's why!"
Kenaline took advantage of his raised arms to tickle his sides. "You're _supposed_ to say that I'm looking even better than usual,"
she replied, grinning at him.
"Mercy!" K'nure wriggled and managed to pull her hands away from his ticklish sides. "Cruel woman! It's the thought that counts!"
"And what were you _thinking_ about when you never asked me to dance?" she retorted. Her eyes glinted with laughter as she tugged at one of her hands, trying to get her fingers back to his sensitive sides. "I'm hurt, K'nure!"
"I tried! I honestly did! But I never got the chance. You, my dear, were positively _mobbed_ by bronzeriders. And brownriders. And blueriders. And possibly a greenrider or two, along with several Crafters and what looked to be a plumber, if his pants were any indication." He let her struggle for a moment before bringing her hands up to his lips and kissing the backs of each of them. "This is the first chance I've gotten to get you alone. So shall we dance?"
Kenaline laughed and wrinkled her nose at him. "Of course you ask _now_ when my feet are so sore I don't even know how I'm going to get back to my weyr! I think one or two of those blueriders came close to breaking a couple of my toes!"
The bluerider nodded solemly. "Beasts, all of them."
"All of them," she agreed. "And you, too! Unless you can think of a way to make it up to me!"
"Well..." K'nure thought for a moment. "Your poor feet were mangled by a bluerider, seems only fair that a bluerider picks up the slack.
Want a ride back to your weyr?"
"Only if I get to ride on your back and not over your shoulder!" she retorted, grinning. "You're so thoughtful, K'nure."
"And you think of everything," the bluerider grumbled. He pushed himself to his feet, then crouched down and braced himself. "All right. Hop on. Let's just hope that I'm not so drunk I'll drop us both."
Laughing, Kenaline wrapped her arms around K'nure's shoulders and hooked her legs over his hips. "If you fall over, I'm going to land on you. Just so you know."
K'nure staggered slightly as he straightened and found his balance.
"Shards, woman! How can you be so thin and still weigh so much!?"
Kenaline laughed and drove a fist into his shoulder. "You must just be a wimp, because I keep getting in trouble for not being able to gain enough muscle to be a good dragonrider."
"Runner pockey. I'm no wimp, and you're no delicate flower, either,"
K'nure grumbled goodnaturedly as he headed for the door. On the way he passed the drinks table, and decided to make a stop. "Hey, grab me a glass of wine, will you?"
Leaning precariously over, Kenaline bypassed the glasses and went straight for an unopened bottle. Hefting it above her head, she slapped K'nure's shoulder with the other hand. "Run, before anyone catches us! Or hobble, since you're such a wimp and I'm soooo heavy."
The bluerider whooped and headed for the door in as straight a line as he could manage - which wasn't very. He did get a few cheers, however, and he was able to get both himself and Kenaline into the hall with a minimum of damage. "Not a chance, my dear greenrider!" he said, panting slightly as he turned toward Kenaline's weyr, "I am as swift as a dragon in flight! As fast as a flol- dolphin! Quicker than /between/!"
Kenaline leaned forward to put her lips next to his ear. "You are _so_ sharding drunk, K'nure."
"And yet I'm not the one who accepted a ride on a drunk man's back!"
K'nure replied, feeling proud of his wit. "HA!"
"Mmmmm..." Kenaline waited until he was reaching out to open her door and then leaned forward and nipped at his earlobe. "But he's such a _handsome_ drunk man," she whispered, tightening her legs around his waist. He wasn't escaping now!
K'nure grinned and stumbled through her door. "Are you taking advantage of me in my drunken state, Kenaline?"
Kenaline laughed as her hand slipped under the neck of his tunic. "Are you saying you'd have to be drunk to let me take advantage of you?"
"Shards, no! A woman like you, you can take advantage of me anytime.
Please, take advantage of me!"
The greenrider laughed as they tumbled in the direction of her bed. "Well, if you _insist_..."
