Yannis sat back in her chair and swirled the wine in her glass, watching it with a smile. "That was a nice dinner. It's nice to relax over a meal."
"Rank has its privledges," N'klos said, picking up his own wineglass and staring into its depths. "I never used to take advantage of it until my recent return. It helps knowing how grateful T'moran in that regard!" It was easy to joke about that, but N'klos was a hardcore rider and he _still_ felt uncomfortable with having dinner sent up to his rooms when he felt he should be in the Dining Cavern with his wingriders...still, it had been increasingly hard to get Yannis alone lately.
"You deserve it," Yannis replied firmly. "I'm glad you decided to take advantage of it... And not just because I like eating in private with you more than I like trying to carry on a conversation with the entire Weyr staring at us."
He snorted. "The buggers have nothing else to do besides stare and gossip. I mean, it's not like we've not eaten together before!"
Yannis took a sip of her wine, smiling at him over the rim of her glass. "If you weren't legendary, we wouldn't have to worry about it. But even when you were gone people talked about you."
"Talked about how glad they were that I was _gone_ perhaps..." He picked up his fork and snagged the last bit of baked redfruit she'd left on her dessert dish.
"How frightening you were, more like it." Yannis grinned at him. "Big scary bronzerider... you're terrifying."
"Yes, I can tell I leave you shivering in your boots..." He looked her over.
"Although I wouldn't mind the shivering part, I can do without the boots...or clothing for that matter..."
Yannis set her glass down and stretched her arms over her head, letting him look his fill. Looking she had no problem with. "And I tried so hard to act intimdated, N'klos. What gave me away?"
"The fact that you flirted almost as much as I did. Of course, this was before you decided I needed to wait like a good little boy..." He sighed dramatically. "And wait. And wait..."
"Someone needs to make you behave. It's good for you." And she couldn't say that she wasn't enjoying his attempts to convince her he'd waited long enough.
"I can behave. Haven't heard of me making any riders cry lately, have you?"
Yannis snorted. "They don't always admit it right away. Though I suppose it's not shameful when _you're_ the one who made them cry. Now if it were O'dan... well, that would be a different story."
N'klos snorted in return. "Please...it would probalby be _him_ doing the crying!"
"There's an easy way to fix that." Yannis shook her head. "I've never seen a man forget about everything that was wrong in the world so quickly as O'dan does if you wave a girl in front of him."
N'klos laughed. "True enough...me, it takes more than just a _girl_ to cheer me up..."
"Yes, you seem to be more fond of women, I've noticed..." Yannis grinned. "I can't say I mind."
"And yet still I'm waiting!"
"Poor bronzerider," she teased with absolutely no sympathy. "Maybe you're going to be the one crying next."
"I don't cry for anyone." He shrugged. "I'd regret it if you continue to say no, but I think crying is a bit much...not to mention not very manly."
"As if anyone would accuse you of not being manly." She let her eyes wander his body for a moment, memory supplying the details of the strong muscles hidden by clothing. She appreciated the thrill of anticipation, but sometimes she was amazed by her own self-control. Reaching for her wineglass, she took another sip. "Do you have plans for this coming restday?"
"That depends."
She quirked an eyebrow. "On?"
"On _you_ of course..."
"Mmmm..." Yannis leaned forward. "Well, then. Meet me in the Weyrbowl before dinner. I have a nice, quiet place I like to go to relax, but I think I might like some company."
"Might like, or will want?"
She grinned. "That depends on _you_."
