Shall We?

Writers: Dana, Eimi
Date Posted: 30th November 2006

Characters: U'kaiah, Traelyn
Description: U'kaiah comes to Dolphin Cove's celebration and shares a dance and some friendly banter with Trae
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 29 of Turn 3

It was the grin that caught her attention, flashing white against a sea of swishing and swirling colors. Shards--and what a familiar grin it was! A rather impish grin of her own spread across her lips as she met U'kaiah's eye before twirling one final time beneath the dragonrider's arm. So he'd finally come! She'd been wondering when he was going to show up here...
Now she could snatch him up for a dance--or two at least!

As the music reached its crechendo, Traelyn stood back from the dragonrider and clapped along with the rest of the dozens and dozens of other laughing and breathless couples jammed into the cavern.

}:It is good to hear you laugh,:{ Nyith remarked happily from the Heights.
}:It will be a very good night for you. And for me! The rocks are still so warm from the sun. I am very comfortable.:{
**Hopefully not _too_ warm? You would'nt want to fall asleep when you have all these new dragons here to socialize with?** she asked as the dragonrider bent over her hand, kissing it before he was swept away by the throng as the harpers began to play a new song.

}:I wouldn't dare!:{ Laughing, face flushed and eyes bright, Traelyn nearly collided into her friend as a man swung his lady up and onto the dance floor. "You made it!" she grinned breathlessly, clasping his hands in hers.

"I did! And I think I cleaned up rather nicely, if I do say so myself,"
he said standing up straighter in his Turn's End finery.

"As vain as your dragon," she teased, leaning back a little to look him over. He really _did_ look nice, with those snug-fitting black pants and that tunic... "Bronze stitching," she grinned, but her expression was admiring as she traced the collar with a fingertip. "It's fitting."

"It's my favorite color," he said with a saucy bronzerider smile. "Besides, I thought it would match the gold on your dress."

"Gold and bronze do seem to go so well together, don't they?" Her tone was almost coy as she slanted him a playful look.

"That they do, Weyrwoman," the bronzerider said, matching her look for flirtateous look. "So do I pass your inspection? Am I fit to dance with?"

She twirled her finger. "Turn around. I have to do a proper inspection. And that means full body, bronzerider."

"With or without the outfit?" he asked with a suggestive brow wiggle before dutifully raising his arms and turning in a slow circle.

"Oh...." she breathed, all play momentarily gone for a moment as she took in the back of his shirt--where the _real_ detailing was. "Shards, U'kaiah, that's gorgeous..."

"You like it?" he asked, incredibly pleased at her reaction. U'kaiah had hoped she'd be impressed. "I thought I should get a new outfit for a new Turn. And hopefully a new begining too."

She was sorely tempted to trace down and around the swirling pattern of the stylized, bronze dragon, but instead settled for briefly brushing a finger against the sinuous, curving neck. "It's beautiful....just perfect for the occasion." Traelyn smiled at him when he looked over his shoulder at her. She understood his reasoning completely...for she'd done the exact same thing. "Dare I ask where you got the inspiration for such a pattern?"

"Your dress," he grinned, pointing to the gold dragon that adorned her new Turn's End clothes. "It really is gorgeous on you, you know."

"Thank you." She caught that finger, grinning back. "Now what do you say to a dance, hmm?"

"Hmmm..." he said, giving her a thoughtful, almost doubtful look. "All right, I guess so."

"You _guess_ so?" She mocked frowned at him. "How could you say that? It's a chance to publicly strut your stuff and show off all that finery. Not that you haven't done so already..."

U'kaiah tried his best not to laugh as he snidely replied, "Exactly. Do you know how _lucky_ you are to be seen on _my_ arm tonight?"

She snorted, hooking her arm through his even as he said the words. "Not as lucky as you are to be seen on _my_ arm, U'kaiah! Remember who you're talking to."

"Be careful, Weyrwoman," he said, narrowing his eyes as he covered her hand with his. "Don't forget, you are talking to a future Weyrleader."

Traelyn hugged his arm. "I don't forget."

He leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "Thank you for your confidence in me. Now, I see harpers sitting down. Shall we?"
