Writers: April, Rebecca
Date Posted: 21st September 2006

Characters: Z'al, Jyramikah
Description: The eggs hatch while Jyramikah and Z'al watch proudly.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 14 of Turn 3

Ikoladith woke with a start. She had been napping when the sound of the eggs beginning to stir woke her. She alerted the Weyr with her excited bugling. }:The eggs are going to hatch!:{ she announced joyfully. The pace of the Weyr jumped up a notch as the weyrfolk hurried to finish their tasks and the riders began ferrying in the candidate's families.

Jyramikah was savoring the chance to soak in her bathingpool when she heard Ikoladith's joyous announcement. **Is it close or do I have time to finish my bath?** she asked trying to decide whether she was happy the eggs were hatching or disappointed that she wouldn't get to finish her bath.

}:There is time, but do hurry. You need to be here to greet the candidates,
remember?:{ the gold replied as she acknowledged the arrival of several
dragons including her mate.

**I will.** Jyramikah replied as she slid underneath the water to rinse
herself off. She had a dress all picked out for the occassion. She ran
through a list of who she needed to contact before making her appearance at
the Sands. The dragons had begun to hum which always filled her with
excitement.

She dressed and quickly made the stop to see her children. They would be
sitting with her sister's family since there were a lot of official duties
that she had to see to after the hatching. Consoling those candidates who didn't Impress and congratulating those who did at the hatching feast.
It was going to be a long evening. At least the eggs hadn't hatched in the
middle of the night.

As she approached the Hatching Sands, she saw Z'al standing with Kirra and
spotted Dirwol nearby. Her smile widened at the sight of her harper and the
happy couple. She had made friends with Z'al and Kirra. "Z'al, you get to
sit with me as the sire of the clutch. Dirwol, Kirra...best wishes to both
of you." she said giving the harper a hug. He looked so handsome in his
candidate robes that she almost hoped that he didn't Impress. If he did she
wouldn't be
able to be with him for the first half of his weyrling training, but then he
would have a dragon of his own.

Dirwol returned the hug. He had mixed frrlings about impressing. He wasn't
sure he really wanted to. He was happy as long as he remained with Jyra. He
smiled as he turned and bowed to Kirra. "Shall we join the others?"

Z'al stepped over to Jyra and smiled. "Shall we find our place and welcome
everyone here?"

"I think that would be a good idea. Ikoldith says that they will be hatching
any moment now." Jyramikah replied as she led the way to their seats. The
stands were filling up as the candidates' families arrived and the weyrfolk
found places to sit. No one ever wanted to miss a hatching if they could be
there.

Z'al was excited. HE had never been in this position. It was a strange
position to find oneself in. These hatchlings were his lifemates little
ones. He was bursting with pride. He watched as people filled in. He couldn't help but take Jyramikah's hand and squeeze it. He wished everyone
luck. This was going to be interesting.

Jyra turned to the brownrider when he squeezed her hand. "Are you excited or
..." she started to ask, but was interrupted by the cracking of an egg. She
watched entranced as always when her gold's or any gold's eggs hatched.

The rest of the eggs were rocking violently as the dragonets inside
increased their efforts to release themselves from their eggs. The egg that
had cracked developed a second crack that was widened by a brown forearm. The crowd watched eagerly as the little brown worked his way free
of
the shell and began his search for his lifemate. The brown wandered towards
one group of boys that were off to the side. He stopped beside Dirwol for a
moment and Jyramikah wondered if there would be Impression, but he moved on to the young man standing behind the harper. The young man had red
hair. }:Cerran, I am Shilath.:{ the brown told the young man.

As Shilath had been hovering near the candidates, two more eggs had hatched revealing two greens. The girls instantly were on the alert, but
neither of
the hatchlings even spared the girls a glance. They headed straight for the
middle of the candidates. They ended up impressing two young men who were
standing behind Virnoren. The two young men led their new lifemates off of the sands.

Jyramikah turned to Z'al, "Did you see those two not even glance towards the
girls, they knew exactly who they wanted. I'd like to see at least one
bronze when this is over." As she spoke a brown and three blues were looking for their lifemates.

The little brown seemed to know exactly who he wanted and wasn't hesistant
about knocking the candidate that approached him out of his way in his
eagerness to get to his rider. }:Daiirue, I am Wisath.:{ he said as he approached the candidate and Impression was made.

There was a green and a blue hatchling headed towards Orlan who was standing
close to a group of young women who were hoping that the green would be
coming their way instead of the young man's after the last greens that had
hatched Impressing young men. Ambilyth veered to the left of Orlan into a
group of young girls. She knew the one she was seeking. There she was, but
the brown haired young woman had her head turned away looking at the
Impression of a young blue and his new rider. }:I am Ambilyth.:{ she
announced hoping to catch Aidiata's attention.

The young woman looked down suprised. She hadn't expected to impress. When
her eyes met the tiny greens her heart seemed to overflow. She happily led
the tiny green form the sands in happiness.

The blue was still looking for the right candidate. After several minutes of
considering this one and that one, he found the young man and announced, }:
I am Arryeth and you are X'riel.:{

Z'al watched with eyes full of wonder. He was watching a certain young woman
with certainty. He watched as a little green broke from her shell. He almost
wanted to point to his weyrmate. He urged the little green with all his heart toward her. His shoulders slumped a bit as she waundered off
toward the stands and the candidates there. He glanced around to see if any
others had hatched.
