Description: Traelyn lets her irrational emotions get the better of her
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 7 of Turn 3
Sighing, Traelyn stretched out on the sofa, a pleased smile curving her
lips. What a day! Shards, but it had been so fun to see _her_ Weyr beat Dragonsfall's ass. **Maybe next time I'll play,** she thought idly,
watching the last sunrays of the evening disappear from the walls to be replaced by shadows.
Traelyn was sure there were still plenty of party revelers down at the cove, but when N'vanik had called it a night, she'd decided to leave as well. Of course, they hadn't gotten around to actually _leaving_ until about a half-candlemark later... Grinning smugly at the memory, she scrunched her toes into the cushions. And besides, even though she'd been tempted to stay longer, she couldn't very well ignore the rational part of her mind: they had drills tomorrow morning. She couldn't afford to drink heavily and stay up half the night partying when _she_ was leading the Wing. Shards, she hoped most of her riders would have enough sense tonight so she wouldn't have to deal with their drunken idiocy tomorrow... It was doubtful, but she would always hope, couldn't she?
}:Kalamath is here,:{ Nyith suddenly remarked, her tone sounding surprised and rather pleased. She'd always been fond of U'kaiah's bronze.
Traelyn could hear the queen moving out on the ledge, and could just imagine her craning her head around to watch him fly in--no doubt to admire those bunching muscles of his. It wouldn't be the first time.
Chuckling, she told Nyith, "Well, tell Kalamath to tell his rider that he can come on up."
She sat up then, and looked around for her wine glasses. Sleep could wait. She hadn't talked to U'kaiah at the game, and she was glad he'd come now. As Traelyn searched through the wine cabinet for a bottle of white, she asked, "Did you tell him?"
There was a long pause. }:I told him.:{
She frowned a little, leaning back on her heels to glance out towards the gold's weyr. It wasn't often she heard her dragon use that kind of distant tone. "Well?"
Another pause. }:His rider is with Sawauth's rider.:{
Traelyn blinked, a line creasing her brow. "Sawauth's rider?"
}:Yes.:{
That was Tavia's dragon. Tavia was in her Wing. Her frown deepened. He was with her? "Well," she said to herself, jaw tightening, "nevermind, then." Annoyed, she shut the cabinet's door perhaps a little harder than was necessary, and stood, running her fingers through her hair.
So he wanted to slink into her Weyr under her nose and have sex with one of her riders? Fine. Shards, she didn't care. She went to Dragonsfall to see N'vanik, and Faranth knew it wasn't always just to talk.
But still...that didn't make her feel any better.
Trying to shrug it off, Traelyn went through her evening ablutions, and by the time she crawled into her huge bed, it was completely dark outside.
Grabbing the closest pillow, she wrapped her arms around it and buried her cheek against its softness, hoping sleep would find her quickly.
}:He'll come to see you, Trae,:{ Nyith told her softly before she slipped into an uneasy sleep. }:He always does.:{
~*~*~
Snarling quietly, Traelyn grabbed a fistful of the pillow she'd been snuggled against all night and flung it towards the foot of the bed, completely fed up with this whole damned situation. It was early--probably not even the sixth candlemark yet--and she couldn't sharding get back to sleep!
"This _really_ shouldn't be bothering me so much," she grumbled, rubbing a hand over her brow. "It really shouldn't. It can't be healthy." Kicking off the sheets, she glared up at the ceiling. U'kaiah was still here, according to Nyith. Tavia couldn't be _that_ sharding good in bed, could she? For all the sharding...
Taking in a deep breath, she ground her teeth, working hard to keep her temper back. She didn't need to be railing at the walls or throwing pillows. It was childish. It was stupid. For Faranth's sake, she was twenty-six Turns old! Far too old for such impulsive behavior.
Sighing, her temper leashed--sort of--she rolled over on her side and looked moodily at the wall. She was jealous. Jealous that her best friend was spending time with another woman. It was ridiculous. She couldn't even remember a time when something like this had bothered her.
Shards--she knew N'vanik bedded other women, but knowing that hadn't really made her feel like _this_ before.
But...it wasn't the sex she was jealous of. It was the _time_ that he was spending with that greenrider. Precious, valuable time. Traelyn hardly ever got to see U'kaiah, and here he was, in the same sharding _Weyr_, and he wasn't coming up to see her.
Her feelings were completely irrational. Completely and utterly irrational.
Traelyn squeezed her eyes tightly shut. If he wasn't going to come up and see her, then she'd call him. But he _would_ see her. He always did. He wasn't going to slight her by leaving without saying a word. He wouldn't do that. Would he?
