Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 7 of Turn 3
:You _will_ give me a bath later, right, Shayla?:{ Kiranth asked, her
tone wistful.
**Yes, love. As soon as I'm done mending the riding strap,** the
greenrider replied as she hurried down the corridor towards the leather
storage room.
}:You're _still_ not done with that?:{
Shayla made a face, causing one rider to give her a funny look as he
passed by. **No. I've never been the best at sewing leather. You know
that.** Sighing, she jerked the door to the storage room open, and gave a
startled yip as she bumped into the person coming out. "Oh, shards, I'm
so sor--K'mai!"
His startled expression was replaced with a smile. "Hello there, Shayla!
Sorry about running into you." K'mai held up a piece of leather. "You here
for the same reason I am?"
She nodded, wrinkling her nose. "Unfortunately." Amazing. Her voice was
completely steady!
"So aside from mending straps, do you have any plans for today?"
Shaking her head, she smiled at him as he stepped aside so she could slip
into the room. "Not really. I kind of figured finishing this long strap
would take up most of my free time this afternoon."
"Maybe if I finish early, I could come help you out," K'mai suggested.
She paused in her browsing of the shelves to look at him, a brow raised
slightly. "You'd help me finish it?"
"Sure. Then you could spend the rest of your free time with me." The
bluerider winked.
"You're always angling for it, aren't you?" Shayla asked with a grin,
blushing a little.
"What can I say? I can't resist cute women." He smiled. "Especially when
I've had a taste," K'mai said in a quieter tone.
The greenrider toyed with her index finger nervously, finding it suddenly
hard to ignore the memories of the flight--and what had followed after.
"If you call Kiranth's flight just a taste, I can't even imagine what your
kind of...meal...is like, K'mai."
He lifted an eyebrow. "Would you like to find out?"
It was on the tip of her tongue to say no. But...was there any real harm
in having fun? The girls in her group were always talking about how
sharding great it could be hanging around different men--but none of them
had a weyrmate.
And yet this _was_ a Weyr... Things were so casual here--especially sex.
The last thing she wanted to do was hurt T'voal, but he hadn't seemed upset
at all when she'd come back home after spending quite a time in K'mai's arms
after the flight. Which had shocked her, considering the way he'd behaved
after U'val won Kiranth last time. After something like that, was there
anything wrong with her flirting? Testing the waters just a little?
Maybe there wasn't....
Steeling herself, Shayla slanted him a look that could almost be called
coy--almost--and moved back against the wall. "You might have to convince
me..."
"I'd love to." K'mai had been expecting more resistance from her, but this
was a pleasant surprise. He moved closer to her and trailed a hand along
her cheek. "Should I convince you right here, or somewhere more private?"
"Depends on how you're planning to convince me," she murmured, blushing.
"It involves a lot of kissing," he pressed his lips to her neck, "and
touching." His hand moved against her waist, toying with the hem of her
shirt.
"What else?" she asked, her tone a bit breathless.
"A little of this . . ." K'mai slipped his hand under her shirt and
brushed his fingers across her breast.
Her breath caught--she hadn't been expecting _that_. "Oh," she whispered,
turning a darker shade of red.
K'mai kissed her, his hand still under her shirt. When he broke the kiss, a
long few seconds later, he asked, "Now would you like to go somewhere else?"
Wordlessly, she nodded, her reason for coming to this room in the first
place completely forgotten.
